Beach House Inn in Fort Bragg, CA

This property was nicer than expected. The name “Beachhouse” is very appropriate, the design and comfort has a feeling of home. Arriving late in day could create a parking challenge. The location is a short drive into town and the locals are very helpful and friendly. Overall, it was great.

The Beach House Inn is a clean, comfortable motel in Ft. Bragg. It is located in the far northern part of Ft Bragg on the corner of Highway 1 and Pudding Creek Lane. Because of its name, we were expecting a beach or an ocean view; however, the name is misleading. The balconies of the Beach House Inn overlook a small estuary that feeds into the ocean on the far side of a bridge. The site is sloped toward the estuary, making walking a little difficult. Parking is adequate. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the grounds are well kept. The rooms are 4 to a building with two upstairs and two downstairs. Security is impressive because our card key was needed to open both the outside building door and our unit door. Our room was clean and large, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom had recently been renovated and featured a walk-in shower.

We stayed at the Beach House Inn for 1-night in late-Dec ($180). The the hotel, on the north side of town, was arrayed in white 2-story blocks along the muddy estuary of Pudding Cr. Our premium king room with balcony estuary view was large, with a hide-a-bed and coffee table at one end, chest of drawers (with small microwave, pod coffee maker), HD TV, desk and chair. The sink/vanity was along side the bed with the mini-refrigerator underneath. Everything was quite new and well maintained. Breakfast was not included, but they provided a dog package with a sheet to cover any furniture the dog used, dog treats, poop bags. Overall, a reasonable location that was a short drive to town shops, restaurants, quiet despite the proximity to the highway, and quite comfortable. Reasonable value for a reasonable to somewhat high price for the area.

We stayed for just one night at the Beach House. It was a spur-of-the-moment trip and we had a little dog with us. We were very pleased to realize that the Beach House accepts pets ($20 per night) and not only that, they really make the pets welcome. When I checked in we received a bag with a sheet to spread across the bed where the dog would be laying, two dog treats and two poop bags, and a list of conditions. They were really prepared for people with pets, and we appreciated that! Our check-in was easy and fairly quick and it was just a short walk to our room. We had a room with 2 queen beds and an estuary view with a balcony. Our building had (I think) 3 other guest rooms in it, and had an exterior locking door. My room key was good to unlock the exterior door as well as my own room. The room was very clean and well appointed, and the beds were quite comfortable. The room had a mini-fridge and also a microwave and a Keurig coffee maker. There was also a large screen TV which we did not use. The balcony came with 2 chairs and a footstool, which were thoughtfully inside the room so that they remained clean. The bathroom was wonderful and had a walk-in shower that was very comfortable. The WiFi was not great - pretty slow at times and sometimes it hung up. The property was almost full so I’m sure that had something to do with it. Overall I would give this property 5 stars and would stay here again.
