Description

from Discover NY
The wonders of NYC will dazzle you as you learn the history of this iconic place. See NYC's famous landmarks and neighborhood by bus, foot and boat cruise!

After a drive through the Times Square area, the first stop is at Central Park West and 72nd Street, at the Dakota Building (former home of John Lennon). The stop includes a short guided walk into Central Park to visit the Strawberry Fields with the Imagine mosaic dedicated to John Lennon, as well as the views of other sites in the area such as the luxury condominiums that numerous celebrities call home. We'll also drive by Central Park Zoo, famous Plaza Hotel and Carnegie Hall.

The second stop on the tour is Rockefeller Center, for views of St. Patrick's Cathedral, the location of the ice skating rink and Christmas Tree, and NBC's Today Show set.

The third stop is Madison Square Park - the original location of Madison Square Garden Arena. This area provides spectacular views of dramatic architecture featured in numerous books and films: the Flatiron Building (Godzilla, Spider-Man), the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company Tower (The Runaway Skyscraper, Futurama), and the Empire State Building (King Kong, Independence Day).

The tour continues with a drive through some of the iconic NYC's neighborhoods, such as Greenwich Village, Soho, Chinatown, and the Financial District.

En route to the fourth stop, we drive by Wall Street for views of the New York Stock Exchange, Federal Hall (the location of the first Capitol Building of the United States), Trinity Church, and a drive by the famous Charging Bull sculpture on Broadway.

The fourth stop is the World Trade Center, as we visit the 9/11 Memorial. The tour does not include entry into the 9/11 Museum, but visitors can walk the grounds of the Memorial, visit the waterfalls of "Reflecting Absence," (the footprints of where the original twin towers stood), and see the Survivor Tree that stood up to the destruction of 9/11.

Around 1 pm, we'll stop for a quick lunch break at the Fulton 55 Market.

The fifth stop is at Pier 15 for the 2:30 pm boat cruise (note: in off-season, between Jan 1 - Apr 1, in lieu of boat cruise, guests visit Grand Central Terminal) with the Hornblower to experience magnificent views of the Manhattan and Brooklyn skylines, iconic Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Williamsburg bridges, Governor's Island, Ellis Island, and a 360 degree turn in front of the Statue of Liberty for amazing photo opportunities!

The boat docks back at Pier 15 in Midtown Manhattan, where we board our bus to continue the tour, as we drive back to our original departure point on 7th Avenue.

"Great way to see all the key sights in 6 hrs"

We spent the day with Jack (guide) & Jerry (bus driver) both were fantastic. Day starts early as you need to meet the bus at 9:40am to have a chance to get you choice of seat & arrived back at 4:10pm. Bus is pretty comfortable and v quiet. This is a hop on hop off tour so quite a few sights you get to walk around & can then decide whether or not to come back to. There are around 6 stops. Jerry is amazing at getting you as close as possible to the attraction and Jack is a passionate New Yorker who loves to share his knowledge of his city. My favourite as Strawberry Fields, Central Park. I am not sure the tour is for young children under 14 - v long too keep them interested. Also bus is quite hard to get in & out of and some sights are a 300 - 400m walk so if you have a physical disability this might be tough. I also think lunch needs to be at a better stop with better sit down, inside eating options. Not sure but I think it cost around $USD89 each, which we thought was good value for money. Recommend you do this tour early on arrival into NYC as it will give you a great intro into the layout of the city and some key sights albeit they do not take you to any of the great art galleries. Thanks guys

If you want to see everything in a day this is the trip to take. You stop long enough to see what you want and then go to another place. Would do it again!

My first time in NYC with my family and we decided to book this tour based on reviews. It was excellent and I am so happy we did. Our guide was Rachel who was funny and informative, and gave us helpful tips for our stay. We were sad to miss the Empire State Building and The Rockefeller center due to heavy traffic, but completely understand because we made the mistake of walking up there the night before the tour and it was bedlam. Really enjoyed the boat tour and the 9/11 memorial. It was great to get so much information about the city and it’s landmarks, which we would have never learned had we gone it alone. Highly recommend it to anyone coming to visit.

We arrived last night and had booked the tour for the next morning and we all thought it was such a great idea as it really gave us the best intro to NYC with the history of NYC, orientation around the grid and so many useful tips from our amazing and wonderful Guide - Rachel. One of the best tour guides we’ve ever had! Sooo organised and informative and she communicates really well. We got so much out of this tour and it sets us up for a great stay in NYC. The Statue or Liberty ferry ride was terrific too, as was our driver Roy. Roy and Rachel worked really well together and got us around the busy city so easily!

Tour was very informative. Guide Gil was so passionate about his job. Non stop information sharing. Very dedicated as always. Driver Anthony was great too. Safe and always ready to offer bottled water. Totally felt comfortable and very well taken care at all times for the whole 6-hour tour. Take it and you won’t regret.

Frequently Asked Questions about Discover NY

How long is the tour?
The tour is six hours long, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm daily.

What if I show up late, or just a few minutes before the scheduled departure time?
We highly recommend you arrive at least 20 minutes before your scheduled departure time to ensure your reservation is honored. You have up to ten (10) minutes before the scheduled departure time to ensure your seat on the tour. Ten (10) minutes before the departure time, we note outstanding reservations as "no-shows." If we have walk-up passengers, they will be given a ticket and will be boarded at this time.

What kind of trucks or vans does USA Guided Tours use?
We use 35-passenger shuttle vans for daily mixed tour groups. Private tours are scheduled on our 15-passenger vans. We do our best to keep large, same-party groups together on the same bus. We reserve the right to substitute our larger 55-passenger buses, depending upon demand and/or our tour schedule. The 55-passenger buses have bathrooms on board for your convenience.

Are we allowed to bring baby strollers and/or wheelchairs on board the tour vehicles?
Unfortunately, the shuttles are not wheelchair accessible, nor is there storage for baby strollers. If you have a wheelchair, please call us to make special vehicle arrangements for your tour. Some of our tours involve longer walks so if you like, you may stay on board the shuttle, near the landmark, without exiting the shuttle bus every time.

Is the tip included in the tour ticket price?
Tips are not included in the tour ticket price.

Are we allowed to bring carry-on luggage on the tour vehicle?
The shuttle buses and vans do not have storage for accommodating carry-on bags. We ask that you only bring purses, briefcases, or backpacks for your tour; Please note that USA Guided Tours reserves the right to inspect any bags, book bags, briefcases or backpacks you carry.

How long do we stay at each stop on my tour?
It depends on the stop. Your tour guide will tell you the planned amount of time for each stop. We have allowed enough time at every stop for you to walk around and take plenty of pictures!

Can I be picked up at my hotel?
Pickup services available from selected hotels are offered. Please call the phone number on your booking confirmation to arrange pickup services.
