Description

from Wicked
Winner of over 50 major awards including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards®, WICKED is the untold story of the witches of Oz. Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. WICKED tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.

With a thrilling score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good,” Wicked has been hailed by The New York Times as “the defining musical of the decade.” Time Magazine cheers, “if every musical had the brain, the heart, and the courage of Wicked, Broadway really would be a magical place.”

Declared “The Best Musical of the Decade” by Entertainment Weekly and “A Cultural Phenomenon” by Variety, WICKED is based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.

This show is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes (1 intermission). Recommended for ages 8 years and up. Children under 5 years will not be permitted in the theatre.

I am so glad that I went to see Wicked. By far the best soloists that I have ever heard before! Set was fantastic. I would perhaps not take a child under the age of 8 as I think the wizard and the dragon could be a bit scary for them.

we took our 13yr twins to their first Broadway show, deciding on Wicked. they loved it, kept their attention the whole time. the plot even has the popular vs nerd high school scenario they can relate to. singing was great, orchestra awesome - very well run show. theater seats 2k, but feels cozy. stage is tall but actually quite small, so nothing too dramatic/over the top. my only negative comment, the wizard is so boring! he really needs a make over!

Great performance, we have seen it twice. The second time was better than the first. A great story, finally learned the truth about the land of OZ. Performers and music are outstanding.
