Description

Winner of over 50 major awards including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards®, WICKED is the untold story of the witches of Oz. Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. WICKED tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.

With a thrilling score that includes the hits “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “For Good,” Wicked has been hailed by The New York Times as “the defining musical of the decade.” Time Magazine cheers, “if every musical had the brain, the heart, and the courage of Wicked, Broadway really would be a magical place.”

Declared “The Best Musical of the Decade” by Entertainment Weekly and “A Cultural Phenomenon” by Variety, WICKED is based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.

This show is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes (1 intermission). Recommended for ages 8 years and up. Children under 5 years will not be permitted in the theatre.

Dreadfully boring and wierd. 2 hours and 40 min of fighting falling asleep. If you like fantasy and musicals you may like it. It was hard to understand and the story line was drawn oooouuuutttt. Don't waste your money.

"too long"

Long. We were visiting NYC and wanted to see a great Broadway show. This was highly rated so we selected it. The actors are talented but not that entertaining. Every song felt long and the show felt long. Next time I will be more aware of the length of the show.

"An Ever-Enchanting Experience – My Fourth Time Watching Wicked!"
TripAdvisor user rating 5.0 out of 5

Seeing Wicked on Broadway for the fourth time, with previous experiences in both London and New York, I can confidently say this show never loses its magic. Each performance brings something new to the table, and this most recent viewing in New York was no exception—it was absolutely spellbinding! The cast delivered powerful performances that brought the characters of Elphaba and Glinda to life in ways that felt both fresh and familiar. The chemistry between them was palpable, and the iconic songs like “Defying Gravity” and “Popular” were as impactful and moving as ever. The production values remain top-notch, with elaborate costumes, breathtaking set design, and special effects that truly transport you into the world of Oz. Every detail, from the lighting to the choreography, is meticulously crafted to create a captivating experience. Whether it’s your first time or your fourth, Wicked is a must-see that continues to enchant audiences of all ages. For me, it’s a show that only gets better with each viewing, and I can’t wait to see it again in the future. Wicked truly is the epitome of Broadway magic!
