"Great but don't get crabcakes"

Our first visit to this restaurant after many trips to NOLA. First, it is beautiful. But, even though it wasn't but about 1/4 full we were seated next to an large black industrial pole. At a very small table the pole dominated our space. I asked the server if we could move and she quickly accomodated us - but it definitely made a bad first impression. My husband ordered the filet and it was very good. I made the mistake of ordering the crabcakes. We are from Maryland and I love a good crabcake. Beware! If you are used to lump crab in your crabcakes do not get them here! Shredded crab meat, almost no flavor. Very disappointing. But my asparagus was cooked well, and my husband's was good too. And from what I have learned (and I knew going in, but thought this was a pretty well reviewed place) good crabcakes cannot be found in the south. Stick to shrimp and fish.

My friend and I booked a table here for her birthday. There is a wonderful jazz brunch, and large buffet. The food was fantastic. They had everything from turtle soup, to made to order omelets, eggs benedict, grits, bananas Foster, gumbo, and all the trimmings. We had excellent service. The location is in the French quarter, I felt it was reasonably priced for the amount of food available. Food was fresh an atmosphere was enjoyable with the live music.

"Mediocre"

Went to dinner here on the last night of our trip and were severely underwhelmed. The reviews looked pretty good and the menu sounded nice but unfortunately, the atmosphere wasn’t great and neither were our entrées. We got the grilled gulf fish and the beef tenderloin. Both were mediocre at best. The only redeeming factors to our dinner were the table side caesar salad, the fried green tomatoes, and the bananas fosters. While our server was lovely, it did however take a little while for us to be greeted, and for our orders to be taken. It may have just been an off night, however, I don’t think it is somewhere we would try again.

"Second rate, at best."

Second rate, at best. This is a restaurant that has rested in its laurels for so long it is unclear if all institutional knowledge of what it probably used to be is now gone. They have a long climb to become “good” again. Service was mediocre. Menu was uninspiring. Food quality was truly one star with no pride of cooking behind it. Expected more, much more. Would not go back.
