I used to go to Great America when I was a kid. Even though ride names have changed over time, Great America is still a fun, family friendly park that seems more affordable than others. The lines were short for rides, food, drinks, games, shopping, etc. We had so much fun with our family and friends. We will definitely go back. Week days during the summer are the perfect time to go. No fast pass needed because lines are still short enough!

"Much better than we thought!"

We arrived in San Francisco for an eight day roller coaster trip. The previous day we were at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom...Although we are all season pass holders for Six Flags we were rather disappointed. Some of the patrons there knew we were going to California’s Great America the next day and warned us with some of their bad experiences. We found the park to be way better than expected. I have found most Cedar Fair parks to be rather well run and very clean. We arrived about 30 minutes before the doors opened and probably had about 50 people in front of us. RailBlazer is their latest roller coaster and we were very excited to ride this new RMC track. We were the first in line and loved this coaster! We immediately ran around and rode it again with about a 10 minute wait. We rode the next 5 coasters without waiting more than five minutes in any line and this was on a weekend in late June! The most important reason the lines were not long was that they were running two or three cars on almost all the coasters. Our only mistake was not getting on Gold Striker (the best Wooden coaster) right away. By the time we got there the line was at least 45 minutes long. The only other ride we did besides roller coasters was Mass Effect: New Earth which we only waited about 10 minutes for. We all would’ve liked that show better if it was more interactive. The food prices (like any amusement park) are rather high, but the quality of the food was pretty good. Unfortunately, Demon was down all day. Overall, the coasters in Great America are very comparable to the coasters at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom...we found CGA to be much more enjoyable though. Coasters ranked: 1. RailBlazer 2. Gold Striker 3. Flight Deck 4. The Grizzly 5. Patriot 6. Psycho Mouse 7. Woodstock Express 8. Berserker We left the park after about 4 hours and felt good about the $49.99 deal they offered that included Parking and a Meal.

"Don’t believe the app wait times"

We arrived when it opened and shortly went to the TailBlazer. We were told it’s the hot one to go on. I downloaded the iPhone app for the park and it said 15 min wait. 2 hours later we got on. We watched as groups of Fastpass holders walked up and got on right away while we didn’t move. One kid was by himself and I watched him ride 3 times while we were pretty close to getting on. Fastpass works well but it I read the cost was $68. On the plus side, the ride was intense. More than I thought even watching it a hundred times while standing in line

"Local Amusement Park with world class rides"

While not DisneyLand or Magic Mountain, if you are looking for an amusement park with world class rides, fatty/greasy/sugary/ yummy food, this is a place to go. Located right off 101, it is easy to find, and can be a fun day for the whole family. It does get warm/hot in the summer, and you might have to wait in the direct sun for some attractions.
