"Thrilling Fun On The Cheap!"
July 2019
Compared to Disneyland, Universal Studios Hollywood, and Six Flags Magic Mountain, California's Great America is quite economical for those whose travel budgets are quite limited in financing(and there is no wrong in that notion). If you desire a sensation of the "county fair" emotion, then GA is your bag. Roller coasters dominate the park's skyline, and all are equally compelling in its own entertaining method. And please be advised to arrive early, if visiting on the weekend, as lines may be lengthy as the day progressed(Fast Lane entries are present, so obviously there exists the potentiality that specific rides are indeed popular).

"My Home Park!"

This is my home park so I'm pretty biased, but I love this park to death. I've always came here ever since I was 1 and a half and would ride Carousel Columbia. There's also a Water Park, 9 Roller Coasters, 52 rides in total. I'm really glad they're updating the water park because they haven't done that since 2007 so I'm really excited, the park opens in 10 days and I can't wait!

Came here with my family. Nighttime event. Everything was nicely decorated very festive. They had rides and show going on. Highly recommend the hot cocoa and churros. They even have a location where the kids can write a letter to santa clause and mail it to him. They do it annually so if you get a chance try it out

"Never a Disappointment!"

I've been going to California's Great America since I was a little boy. It's been thru many ownership's (Marriott, Paramount, California), but never has this place disappointed. It is strange to see some of the same rides I rode as a kid, now be called something else. I now get to experience Great America with my 13yr old and 3yr old. There is a good variety of rides and shows for all ages. And in the summer time, be sure to take advantage of Boomerang Bay (being renamed South Bay Shores in 2020). If you're around for a while or live in the area, be sure to take advantage of a Season Pass and splurge a little on a Season Drink cup - you won't regret it! Lastly - Halloween Haunt is great for the older kids (teen-adult). Visit with the little ones during the day for the Great Pumpkin Fest. Park closes down around 5pm and reopens around 7pm for the haunted houses (included with admission to the park) and scary themes. In December, be sure to check out Winterfest. 2019 was the first time they opened the entire park, which wasn't the best choice in my opinion because many rides were not open, and the lights looked like they were "strung without care", and sort of just thrown up. However, the overall theme, the shows, and festiveness was great. They even convert the pond at the entrance into an Ice Skating Rink.

"Winterfest!"

The parking and lines can be excruciating, so I highly suggest arriving 15-30 minutes before the park opens. Great America’s Winterfest is magical. Lights and music everywhere, and snow falling. Really cute family friendly shows throughout the park, and yummy treats. There are also really cute activities such as writing a letter to Santa and decorating Christmas ornaments. The park isn’t huge, and there’s overhead rides to take you from one side of the park to the other.
