Nights of a Thousand Candles at Brookgreen Gardens a Christmas Tradition

Revel in the holiday magic of Nights of a Thousand Candles at Brookgreen Gardens. The Myrtle Beach holiday event is an extraordinary light display featuring thousands of sparkling lights and candles, all of which illuminate the lush, green gardens of Brookgreen. Each section has its own unique light display and nightly shows and indoor exhibits are also offered during Nights of a Thousand Candles.

Things to Do at Nights of a Thousand Candles

The gardens and sculptures of Brookgreen Gardens come to life amid the soft glow of over 2,700 hand-lit candles and countless sparkling lights, creating a delightful holiday experience. Grab a cup of cider, walk the paths of the historic gardens, listen to carolers singing, and hear the holiday bells ringing in the Christmas cheer.

Tickets must be purchased prior to visiting Brookgreen Gardens. Member pricing is $20.00 per adult and $12.00 per child. Non-member pricing is $25.00 per adult and $15.00 per child.

The annual Nights of a Thousand Candles is held from 3:00 pm-10:00 pm on select dates from December 5th through December 21st, 2019, with featured entertainment such as:

Thursday, December 5th – Sunday, December 8th

  • Raglan Road – 3:30, 5:30, 7:30 pm at the First Citizens Bank Entertainment Tent
  • Tru Sol Band – 3:30, 5:30, 7:30 pm at the Tidelands Health Entertainment Tent
  • Palmetto Breeze – (Dec. 5-7) – 4:30, 6:30, 8:30 pm at the First Citizens Bank Entertainment Tent
  • Bill Oberst, Jr. (Dec. 8) – 6:30, 8:30 pm at the First Citizens Bank Entertainment Tent
  • Vocal Edition – 4:30, 6:30, 8:30 pm at the Tidelands Health Entertainment Tent

Quick Tips for Attending Nights of a Thousand Candles at Brookgreen Gardens

Keep these tips in mind to make your visit enjoyable:

  • Come on Thursdays to avoid weekend crowds.
  • Carpool with family and friends to reduce the number of parking spaces your group will need.
  • Arrive early to watch the candles being lit.
  • Map out your evening at the beginning of your visit.
  • Dusk (4:00-5:00 pm) is the best time to take pictures.
  • Wear warm and comfortable clothing and shoes. You will be walking outside through the light display.
  • You will need to purchase a special Nights of a Thousand Candles admission ticket to attend.
  • Tripods are not permitted at this event.
