In American comedy, Yakov Smirnoff is a comedy icon. He came to the United States in 1977 after escaping from Ukraine, which at the time was a part of the Soviet Union, with nothing but a goal. He wound up in Hollywood at The Comedy Store despite not speaking English, and the proprietor, Mitzi Shore, took him under her wing.

Yakov rose to fame while working there alongside comics like Robin Williams, Richard Pryor, Billy Crystal, David Letterman, and countless others. He appeared with Johnny Carson on "The Tonight Show," appeared frequently on "Night Court," and even had a program that bore the name of his catchphrase, "What A Country!"

Yakov will be performing at his own 2,000 seat theater in Branson, Missouri, where he delights audiences with his unique brand of comedy. With the heart of dreamer, Yakov Smirnoff has made the impossible possible and continues to inspire others with his love for America.

If you like to laugh, this is the show for you! Yakov tells jokes about growing up in the Soviet Union during the Cold War and his family coming to the U.S. as immigrants. Now an American citizen, his love for America and the American people comes through in humorous, endearing stories. You will be entertained and inspired by the patriotic show!

This has easily been my favorite activity in Branson. It felt like a throwback to the past to hear such a wonderful comedy act live for the first time. It's not just stand up comedy. As a bonus there are videos, another comedian / impressionist, singing and dancing. It's very patriotic and some of the merchandise sales benefit charity. The best part is how much you laugh during the show.

32 Years ago I won a contest as a new Stockbroker opening the most new accounts. The prize was an all expense paid Royal Carribean cruise to the Grand Caymans as the personal guest of Yakov Smirnoff. Barbara & I were just married in August and Yakov was just breaking ground on his new theatre. It took us 32 years, but we finally came to his theatre and saw him live again. Amazing to get a chance to catch up after all these years. I was a young 23 and just getting started and now I was able to afford to travel and pay for VIP 6th row center and enjoyed every minute to see in person a man who represents a LEGAL IMMIGRANT who became a US citizen and has achieved the American Dream. Only in America 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇮🇱
