In American comedy, Yakov Smirnoff is a comedy icon. He came to the United States in 1977 after escaping from Ukraine, which at the time was a part of the Soviet Union, with nothing but a goal. He wound up in Hollywood at The Comedy Store despite not speaking English, and the proprietor, Mitzi Shore, took him under her wing.

Yakov rose to fame while working there alongside comics like Robin Williams, Richard Pryor, Billy Crystal, David Letterman, and countless others. He appeared with Johnny Carson on "The Tonight Show," appeared frequently on "Night Court," and even had a program that bore the name of his catchphrase, "What A Country!"

Yakov will be performing at his own 2,000 seat theater in Branson, Missouri, where he delights audiences with his unique brand of comedy. With the heart of dreamer, Yakov Smirnoff has made the impossible possible and continues to inspire others with his love for America.

Brilliant, hysterical, best show in Branson MO. YAKOV is patriotic, and shows the audience how a Russian immigrant cant make it in this USA. He also shares how we should help others. Yakov Smirnoff is a class act show!!! It was done tastefully and with love and appreciation of the USA! So entertaining but also heartwarming! It was a blessing which had me in tears at the end! Yakov cleverly wove humor, love and appreciation of America and the reminder that we still have more good people than bad ones in our country together to make a lasting impression! Thank you Yakov!

My husband and I went to see Yakov Smirnoff. We never heard of him until we were looking for a comedy show. He was so darn good. He had us laughing and just a fantastic guy. I loved the way he told us about coming from Russia and how he became an American Citizen. It made me feel good to see he went about it the right was. I just can't wait to go back to see him again next year. Loved his show and his personally.

Ok, I really don't have a sense of humor and I have trouble understanding jokes, but Yakov had me laughing! His humor is a bit adult directed but still clean. It was a fun night for sure!
