Best trip my husband and I ever had! It was romantic, fun, exciting, and just perfectly happy!. My only issue was Volcano Bay was closed and we paid for 4 days of 3 park passes and 4 days of fast passes with no access to the park. Very sad because we heard so many amazing things about Volcano Bay! Loved the food and drink! Swizzle was amazing!!!

"Nice hotel, but pool And hot tub area closed"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5

This hotel is nice, but please be advised that the heated pool (it’s a very warm 80), the hot tub and the entire pool area with the kids games etc. WILL BE CLOSED if the temperature is below 60. Actually it was open at 52 degrees, but I guess they didn’t want to pay their lifeguards anymore so the entire complex was shut down. No pool, no hot tub, no games, no fire pits, nowhere to even sit and relax. We feel like we wasted our money coming here. It is great if the weather is nice, but they change their rules to suit their staffing needs without any consideration for guests who fly all the way here and pay money to stay! My kids are devastated, they got to swim in the morning, but then they closed the pool in the afternoon even though the temperature was even warmer. It makes no sense. We are very disappointed guests!

"Weekend getaway!"
TripAdvisor user rating 4 out of 5
Reviewed January 21, 2020 NEW
We loved our stay at this resort! we live in Florida and visit Orlando quite often and always wanted to visit this hotel every time we drove by so we finally booked it for a weekend getaway. We fell in love with the decor and ambience! -Service: Everyone we encountered was extremely helpful! specially when checking in, they were having issues with the credit card system but they made sure check run smoothly and without any delays. They also made sure to accommodate our rooms requests and since the room wasn't ready when we arrived they conveniently sent us a text once it was. - Room: We booked a room with theVolcano Bay view which means that you have to go to one of the towers instead. The walk to the main food court area/front desk is a little longer but not terrible at all. The room was very clean and beds were super comfortable but the view was absolutely gorgeous! The only thing we wished it had was a sliding door or curtain from the vanity to the rest of the room, I usually wake up pretty early to get ready but because there is nothing to cover that part I couldn't turn on the light without waking up my husband. Another thing to note: If you stay in tower 8 (beachside) and you want to sleep in you probable won't be able to, the music from Volcano Bay is so loud! and they turn it on pretty early. We could hear it all the way in our room and we were on the highest floor so I can't imagine how loud it was for those who stayed in the lower floors. -Amenities: There is a great gym (we didn't use it but we went inside to check it out) there are two pools, one closes at 10pm and the other one at 11pm. One of the pools has a slide! so much fun and the other one has a small lazy river which was great apart from the fact that you have to purchase the floats which was disappointing. There is also a jacuzzi but it was impossible to go in, it was extremely packed and everyone looked uncomfortable. There is a bowling alley ($16.99 per person including shoes) and a few game rooms around the resort. -Restaurants and bars: There are plenty of places where you can eat! including a Starbucks (Staff here wasn't as friendly as everywhere else though). We only ate at the main food court and loved it. There are plenty of choices and vegan options. They do however need to update their screens on which food is advertised we saw a dessert shown on the screen and we asked for it and no one knew what we were talking about until we pointed at the screen and they said they haven't had that available for months. There are also a few bars and people seemed to love them, they were always packed and the one by the lobby also had live music. - Transportation: Buses to Universal studios/ Island of Adventures and City Walk run every 10 min which is extremely convenient! but you can also walk 15-20 min. -Parking: Self parking is $18 + tax per night which seems quite excessive and it would make us reconsider booking if we go with other family members.

This is a very large “resort” so other parts might be nicer. We were in building 4. Our room and the building in general was dirty and had run down/not taken care of feeling. Bed was lumpy. It was on par with a franchise Best Western that’s a little down on its luck. Not terrible but I was thinking it would be more like a Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express. Also, make sure to look up the days you are going and check the early admission — when we went it was only for one park, so staying at the park was not really worth it.

"Great stay"

We stayed at the Cabana Bay for 6 nights in November. The room was a good size, clean & the beds were super comfy. Staff great & the people on the Universal deck were very helpful. The shuttle bus & water taxi were an added bonus but you do need to cross a busy road if you use the water shuttle as it stops at the sister hotel across the road from Cabana but that's the only negative we could find.
