"Do not let Emily McDonald ruin the experience at the tower"

Complaint Regarding Discriminatory and Rude Behavior by the Manager at Tower of the Americas To whom it may concern, I am writing to share a very disappointing experience I had during my recent visit to the Tower of the Americas in San Antonio, Texas. From the moment I arrived, I was genuinely excited to visit such an iconic landmark. The view was breathtaking, and the atmosphere was elegant and welcoming. The waiter who served me was incredibly professional, warm, and attentive — he made me feel respected and comfortable. Other staff members I interacted with were also friendly and helpful. I was beginning to think this would be a memorable and pleasant evening. However, everything changed the moment I had an interaction with the woman who appeared to be the manager. Emily McDonald From the very start, her attitude toward me was cold, dismissive, and blatantly disrespectful. She looked at me with a condescending glare, spoke to me rudely, and made no effort to offer the same courtesy or customer service I had seen her show to other guests — particularly those who did not look like me. The contrast in how she treated me compared to others was striking and undeniable. Her body language, tone of voice, and general demeanor gave me the clear impression that she had a problem with me being there — and worse, that it might be related to my ethnicity or appearance. I have traveled extensively and have interacted with many people in the service industry, but I rarely walk away feeling the kind of humiliation and sadness that I felt after this experience. I truly believe that if I had been of a different background or looked different, she would not have treated me that way. No guest — regardless of their race, accent, or appearance — should ever be made to feel unwelcome in such a public and renowned place. This encounter ruined what could have been a beautiful evening for me and left me with a very bitter impression of a place that should stand for inclusion and hospitality. I sincerely hope that your management team takes this situation seriously and addresses it. Discrimination and poor customer treatment have no place in an establishment like the Tower of the Americas. Sincerely, Víctor G. Alegre Vázquez

As noted in earlier reviews, the Tower of the Americas is a bit dated and could use some TLC, but the panoramic views are undeniable. The maps with areas of interest labeled are helpful, but could be improved. As other guests have suggested, you might want to align your visit with your San Antonio itinerary (at the beginning or the end of the trip) or a particular time of day (sunset would be spectacular). My brother and I, who are both in our seventh decade, enjoyed the 4D movies. We watched all three in succession. Be prepared to have water sprayed on you and to be poked in the back when you are not expecting it. Be sure to consult the website to confirm that there are no changes on the day of your visit. We were impacted by set-up for the NCAA basketball tournament and today there is a warning that the Observation Deck is closed from 4-10 PM for a private event. The relatively short walk (less than 1 mile) from the Tower of the Americas to the River Walk took us through a vibrant area of the city. We saw and heard several construction projects that are underway. The work sites were a welcome sight, though, because they are proof that San Antonio is a dynamic city that is moving forward. There is no better way to see all of it than from the top of the Tower of the Americas!

This was only 20 bucks, but a guy out front gave us his wristband :D. We went at sunset, perfect, not a cloud in the sky. Stay as long as you want, and even leave - then come back later in the day!!

"Great for a city visit"

A 360° view of the City of San Antonio. There is a quick elevator ride to the top, hundreds of feet off the ground. I purchased the Go City pass package that includes the Tower of the Americas as an option. But, they do sell individual tickets at the tower's ticket booth. They also have a small gift shop and cafe on the first level, and a rotating restaurant at the top. A very good place to take pictures and for a family visit. Parking is close by.

We went at sunset. Perfect. We ate dinner and had soup and salad. Lobster bisque, New England clam chowder, chopped salad and a spinach salad. Excellent. Had an old fashion. All was good and service was the best.
