We knew a bit about Johnny Cash before coming to this museum and learned a lot more while we there--particularly about Cash's film/TV career and his humanitarian work. The museum has fun exhibits and particularly benefits from having a friendly, enthusiastic historian named Randal, who seems to have an encyclopedic knowledge of all things Johnny Cash--really fun to chat with him.

I'm not a groupie when it comes to country music. But I always was enamored whenever Johnny Cash, the famed "Man in Black," made an appearance at the Grand Ole Opry or on TV. He had a swagger about him that made him irresistible. And it's all here at the Johnny Cash Museum in Nashville, Tennessee. Located at 119 3rd Avenue South, in the busy South of Broadway neighborhood, it opened in May 2013, the world's largest collection of Johnny Cash memorabilia and artifacts, including a stone wall taken from his lake house in nearby Hendersonville, Tennessee. The museum chronicles Cash's life, from his early years and Air Force career to his personal life and music career, and includes memorabilia from his famous prison concerts, clips from his own TV variety show and appearances on other TV shows, props, costumes, guitars, handwritten letters and lyrics, Grammy and CMA awards, a family piano, Gold and Platinum records, memorabilia from his years with the legendary Highwaymen group that included Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson and an exhibit dedicated to Sun Records, the Memphis label that launched Cash's career along with Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. See a microphone used by Presley, a pair of glasses worn by Orbison and a drum belonging to WS "Fluke" Holland, Cash's friend and drummer for 40 years. It has been rated as the No. 1 Must Visit Museum for Music Lovers, the No. 1 Must See in Nashville, Best Music Museum in the United States and one of the top five museums in the world dedicated to Pop-Rock Music.

Small but very detailed and informative. I'm not a huge fan, but I really enjoyed this museum. You can go around it in an hour and very close to Beale Street.

The Johnny Cash Museum was a must see for us, we do not regret one second of it. We were amazed by all the information and history in that building. We arrived just after opening, there was not a large crowd, you can buy your tickets in the gift shop as well as any photo packages you would like at the photo center in the museum, we recommend doing the museum then coming back for all the shopping at the gift shop since you exit that way. Once you enter the museum from the gift shop your ticket is not good for re-entry. There are restrooms in the museum as well as places to sit and watch short videos.

Small little place hidden just off broadway street on 3rd avenue. Loved the memorabilia of Johnny Cash and the videos playing. Had some old articles and artifacts displayed along with his life’s journey. The order in which you walk through the museum is very confusing and out of order. Takes about an hour to go through.
