The Jewel Hotel - New York

The Jewel’s location is truly the star. You step outside and you are in the middle of everything. As a former New Yorker who still lives in the tri state area, I loved how easy it was to get around and how safe I felt traveling solo. There was construction next door for most of my stay from Saturday through Thursday, and it definitely cut into the peaceful sleep in mornings I was hoping for. I know this was outside of the hotel’s control, but it did affect the overall experience. Thankfully, I had a full itinerary, so I was not in the room much during the day. My room was clean in the general hotel sense. I did notice a few hairs on the sheets, but they otherwise looked and smelled fresh. I chose the deluxe room with a kitchenette to avoid eating out constantly, and that worked out well. Housekeeping ends at 3 PM, so I ended up changing my own sheets one day. That part did not bother me, but it may matter to other guests. The staff was consistently friendly, patient, and kind. Because I booked some nights through a third party, I had to check in and out daily, which felt a little outdated considering how much of the hotel’s communication is digital. Still, the team handled it with professionalism. There was also a printed maintenance notice in the room that I initially overlooked because everything else was electronic. I assumed it was a welcome note, which led to a bit of confusion on my end. Once I understood what it was, the staff was understanding and helpful. I did not use the gym or the social lounge. Between the construction noise and my schedule, I focused on resting whenever I could. I really appreciated being able to leave my bags after checkout, and the nearby parking garage made things very convenient. One small suggestion would be to add clear instructions inside the elevator. It took me a moment to understand how to operate it, and I noticed other guests having the same moment of confusion. Overall, I would recommend The Jewel for travelers who plan to spend more time exploring the city than staying in the room. The location, safety, and staff are the highlights, and with a few small improvements, the experience could be even better.

This is a fantastic hotel! The location is perfect and we really enjoyed our stay. The staff were so welcoming. When we arrived, they took the time to explain everything available in the hotel, including filtered water on every floor and water bottles you can refill. There is also 24/7 coffee and tea available. The room was perfect for 2 people. The bed was very comfortable and we were surprised at how quiet the hotel was. We will definitely stay here again!

My husband and I stayed here for our quick trip to NYC and it was by far the best hotel experience we’ve ever had throughout our many stays in the city. From the second we walked in, we had the workers make sure we knew they were there if we needed absolutely anything. The check in process was so quick and easy, and we even got there two hours before the time check ins usually start. We were fully expecting to be told we had to come back later, which is the experiences we’ve had before at other places, but they were able to make sure there was a room available and it was perfect. Every time we walked downstairs to leave for the day the workers were so kind, knew us by names, had great recommendations, and everything. Being southerners I love good hospitality, and you can tell these managers strive to make sure they create a very welcoming environment. 10/10 will be staying here every future trip!

We had a wonderful stay this past weekend! The front desk team was incredibly helpful and accommodating, even allowing us to store our luggage before check-in so we could start exploring right away. I also really appreciated the amenities in the lounge, the fresh filtered water station and the coffee machine were such a thoughtful touch. Highly recommend!
