"Family Fun"
July 2018
We had an awesome time at the Ripley’s Museum. It was seven of us and we had fun watching the 4D movie and playing the inter active games. The artifacts and exhibits provided the kids with a lot of great information. We all had a ball and would do it again. Getting the tickets ghrough Reserve Williamsburg helped to cut the cost.

"We had fun! Buy it on Group On because even that price is a little much!!"

It was a good way to waste a few hours. I would not have been happy to pay full price for what was there. The Group On price made it more tolerable. DOn't get me wrong. Cool stuff but not a lot of it. The 4D movie was fun. I could care less about the other attractions. Good for tweens? Staff super awesome. Kudos to them.

"4-D Movies Are Fantastic!"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5

We have been enjoying the Ripley's theater for years now, and our most recent visit was the best yet! Our 4 yr old grandson LOVED The Great Wall and Happy Family shorts, and so did we. The spray that actually hits your face as the rickshaw driver splashes through a puddle, the bats that flap at your legs in a cave, and the smell of trees as you ride along the Great Wall are fantastic! The manager, Z, and other the two attendants were very kind as we rushed in moments before the last showing of the day began. If you've never been, it's a must-see. Children under 5 are free, and the $14.99 per each adult is worth it for the experience. I can't imagine going to Williamsburg without stopping in Ripley's for the 4-D movies, and look forward to our next visit!

"Out of date and expensive "

This place is pretty underwhelming and cheesy. I like odd attractions and facts, but this place has inaccuracies and it’s not clear what items might be real versus fake replicas. Inaccuracies included describing an “elephant goad” as rarely hurting, which is wrong because they use it on the sensitive parts of the animal and it can tear into their skin. They also mention that cockfighting is legal in 3 US states, but it’s illegal in all 50 states and now US territories. I just wouldn’t trust what you read here and it’s overpriced for what you get. I spent 1.5 hours reading all the exhibits but didn’t do the kids activities if that helps people plan.

"Great for a rainy day"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5

My son and I were in Virginia beach visiting family. We were looking for something to break up our drive on the way home to Maryland. It is fall so go-carts were closed and it was a rainy day. We just happened to find their ad in a local paper when we stopped for lunch the day before. They had many interactive games and exhibits. Many strange and unusual things to see and read about. It was a perfect time of day for us as the place was empty other than us. We got to go at our own speed and spend as much time at an exhibit as we wanted. I would go back as well as I/ We will look for other Ripley's in other cities. Believe it or not?

Maybe I'm too old and/or too inured to freak shows and other such novelties, but I think this attraction is way overpriced. Maybe OK for kids around 9 whose noses don't work too well.

Frequently Asked Questions about Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum & 4D Theater

What goes on in the 4D Theater?
We have two different shows running in our theater. They alternate every half hour starting one hour after we open. The shows are similar to an amusement park ride, only the chairs do not move so no one gets tossed around. Each show is about 15 minutes long. You watch them with 3D glasses while we spray you with air and water, tickle your legs and several other surprises. The shows themselves are appropriate for all ages, although sometimes small children are scared of the dinosaurs.

Are your exhibits different from other Ripley’s?

Yes! Everything is real and unique. Some of the Odditoriums may have a few of the same wax figures, but the artifacts are all unique to each show.

Are the attractions wheelchair accessible?

We are ADA compliant and we have 4 available spaces in our 4D Theater specially designed for guests in wheelchairs.

Where can I park?

We have ample and free parking at the Odditorium.

Do you have a snack bar?

We do not allow food or beverages in the attractions, but there are approximately 20 restaurants within a 1-mile radius of our location.

Can I take pictures?

Yes. You may take as many pictures as you’d like.

How old do you have to be to enter by yourself?

You must be 13 or older to be in the attractions by yourself. Anyone 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Does the Mini-Golf cost extra?
Yes, you can purchase a ticket at the front desk.
