"Not cheap, but well worth the cost."

We drove down from the NE corner of Florida to met family from NYS to explore the area attractions and decided to go to Zoo Tampa. There is $7 paid parking, so bring your license plate number and credit card to pay at the machines that are along the walkway from the parking areas. There were nice hard-copy maps readily available at the entrance to help you quickly discren that the 67-acre zoo was laid out with different areas for the different continents with an extra section for Florida. We entered the park shortly after it opened and were entertained with a very good Macaw show near the entrance with birds making a flying entrances and exits. Traveling with a second-grader, we were very pleased that there were misting sprays in several places around the park, a couple of splash zones, with playgrounds and rides to help keep children entertained if they get tired of looking at animals. There was a roller coaster and several rides and exhibits that were not operating, but nothing that would spoil the day. There was pleasant music playing that didn’t interfere with normal conversation. We would advise arriving early to take advantage of all the scheduled shows that are listed on the map. The animals are more active in the cooler parts of the day and tend to be sleeping in the shade in the hotter parts of the day. We experienced the Macaw and Manatee show, which were very well done. There is a safari ride that we opted to not go on due to a wait time of 20 minutes. The habitats were well done in general, but we were disappointed with the number of animals in the Florida section. Overall, it was well worth the $49.95 senior citizen entry fee.

"Very nice park"

I bought an annual membership late last year and am really enjoying it. The animals and birds are beautiful and seem to be well cared for, staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoy the ride/tour through Africa and last visit we had fun mining for crystals! One thing I’ve noticed, at times there are a lot of kids and when coming by school buses, supervision seems to be lacking. I think better supervision so the environment stays enjoyable for everyone. Lovely park though!!

We took our 7 grandkids to Zoo Tampa today and we had a blast. Ages 5 to 20. The kids loved the animals, especially touching the sting ray and seeing a baby rhino; highlight of rides was the water ride, Roaring Springs. They went on this many times. Food was very good and quite affordable for an amusement/animal park. We definitely would go back.
