"Creepy not inviting and smelly"

This hotel is awful- creepy and not a good vibe at all . Almost 330.00 for 1 night and the room smelled. We were put in a handicap room, not sure why, but ok whatever that wasn’t the issue. Just not a welcoming feeling . Reminded me of Hotel on Amazon Horror Story!

"Cute and clean room, but would not stay again."

The hotel is cute, and the room was very unique. The room was very clean. There is no parking so you have to park a couple of blocks away. The neighborhood isn't very good for walking with luggage in the dark. The fireplace in the room was broken. We tried to have the front desk fix it, but they only said they would put a work order in. Coffee and coffee pot were pretty bad. Mattress is hard as a rock - super uncomfortable. We paid roughly $400/night. The room was cute, but not worth $400/night.

A nice 3 night stay in this beautiful old historic hotel. Lots of history to explore with informative explanation boards. My room was huge and clean, as was the bathroom. The bed and pillows were very comfortable allowing a great sleep. Very quiet. Convenient PowerPoints and charging points. Good hot water and water pressure. Good Wifi. Room had a microwave, fridge, iron, room safe, lounge and desk. Easy check-in. Excellent Cafe on the ground floor. Perfect central location at Lafayette Square. Lots of restaurants and bars close by and easy walk to light rail (street car), Amtrak Station, Bus terminal, Buffalo Bisons stadium, City Hall and Theatre District. Relaxed stay and would definitely stay again.

"Beautiful, historic, convenient base for exploring downtown Buffalo"

The hotel is right at a corner of Lafayette Square, the long-time center of downtown Buffalo. An easy walk to the free section of the Metro , which ties in restaurants, theaters, the hockey and baseball venues, the and the Erie Canal District. The hotel has been beautifully restored, with generously sprinkled Art Deco touches. Our very reasonably priced suite was comfortable, clean, and huge, looking right out on Lafayette Square. The location is a short easy drive off the mainline of the NY Thruway, a great alternative to the chain hotels at the interchanges.

Beautiful building on its own, but the staff is what really brings the whole place to life . Each and every staff member I’ve interacted with , (which at this point is probably all of them with how often I stay there) are always on point . They are both friendly and professional , and always very warm and welcoming, which helps make my stays feel more like home every time I’m there. Also, If you’re a neat freak like I am, this is definitely the hotel for you. It is hands down the cleanest, and best decorated hotel in buffalo. If you’re considering a stay at the Lafayette, do it ; you won’t regret it.
