I had time to take both walking tours available, the french quarter and the garden district Sparkles was my guide for the french quarter, we covered Jackson Square in detail and she really provided a launching point for further exploration, I recommend doing this soon after arrival in the city! Paige was my guide for the Garden District, she was so informative and helped us all get to our next destinatons withe great patience! AND her tour of celebrity homes was fun.

I was encouraged by some of the reviews that this would be a good way to see more of the city. We bought the 3-day pass knowing we could only use it for two days because it sounded like a better deal. For our first ride, we checked in with the attendant and asked her how long it would be to see if I have time to run in to go to the restroom. She said 7 to 11 minutes and I had overheard the radio call saying someone was way behind, so I went for it. Of course, the bus showed up 2 minutes later. That bus driver told my husband there would be another one along in just a couple of minutes. We ended up waiting 30 more minutes. Granted, traffic is terrible and I'm sure it is very hard to be on time. Finally, we board the bus at stop 7 to go to the Superdome to buy tickets for an event that night. But, somehow we went from 7 to 10. I asked the bus driver what happened to the stadium and she said, "We stopped there and even picked people up." I thought she was lying because they were behind schedule and had cut a couple of the stops. Later I found out they were not going by the route at all and she must have meant they stopped there earlier. I only know this because the second time we got on, the stops were going down in number so I asked they guide if the bus was going back to 1. She answered yes and I went back to sit down. The next thing I know we're going back up in numbers. Since we had already seen the next stops and needed to get back to 1 for our resort shuttle, we jumped up to get off again. They made a big deal about us getting off right after getting on so I told them we needed to get to 1 and didn't have time for a 2 hour loop. The bus driver said something rude like that's why she said we're not going in order because of the hard Rock Cafe detour. We never heard a word about that, and I listened to every word, but maybe they announced it at other times on the route. Another attendant on the bus said, you need a cross transfer... WHAT?! There is nothing in the brochure about asking for transfers or anything but a "continuous loop 2 hour your with labeled stops 1-18. How hard would it be to have a simple paper listing the change in route and hand that out with your ticket?! There is no way the bus driver can keep up with who's on the bus when all information been stated and how boring would that be if they had to say the same changes at every single stop?! The only reason why I gave it a 3 stars is we did get off at the Garden District Walking Tour after missing the Superdome and it was wonderful. The older gentleman guide was a delight and he totally made it worth the nonsense. Since we had to take an Uber from there back to the stadium and the 2 mile drive was a great deal, I'm thinking that's the way we could've seen more of the city to save some $$. We are giving it one more try today since we've already paid for it. The guide was knowledgeable and some info given was interesting too. If today is any better, I will revise my review.

We had a simply wonderful experience with the "Hop on - Hop off" tour on a beautiful sunny day in New Orleans. Linda was our tour guide and was exceptional; energetic with a constant smile and providing lots of great information. We stayed on the bus for the entire trip and the 2 hours it took were a great way to identify spots we wanted to get to later on our trip. Linda; you are teh BEST -- Thank You so much!
