"Hmmm..two things that make us think twice about staying here again..."

We stayed from Sunday to Friday at Pop Century in the 50s section building #3. The room was updated nicely, small fridge, iron, and pod coffee maker were helpful to have. Reason one to possible spend more for a better room in a better class resort...the food at the resort was really sub par...think school cafeteria...yep...when you are paying good money for a dining plan and the food is terrible that is a reason to go somewhere else to stay..first breakfasts we had was a bagel with scrambled eggs, cheese and bacon. It was hard like a hockey puck..had to scrape the egg and cheese off the bagel and put catsup on it to make it edible..all the food is made ahead and sits in a semi warmer pan..except the one far far right station which will actually make you an omelette..we did that the next morning and it was better. They have toasters and microwaves so if you can toast a bagel yourself. The pancakes were not good at all...stale and had also sat out too long..the coffee though was good and a gal came around to your table asking if you would like a refill. We did not try either the lunch or dinner based on what we saw which was food sitting out way too long..the turkey dinner looked exactly like what you would get in a school lunch with dried up green beans and questionable mashed potatoes and gravy...sandwiches sitting out looked stale and had very thick bread...same for pizza..think thick crust..sitting out on a warmer looking pretty lame... Reason two to consider staying at a better resort is the bus system. Because Pop is a value resort you are low man on the totem pole and your bus arrives at each park or destination at the farthest bus terminal so you are walking between a quarter and half mile back and forth to the buses before you even get into a park!...compared to say Contemporary guests who are right at the front first terminal at each park. The Skyliner was out of service the entire time we were there also and it only goes to set places.. The folks who work at Pop were lovely and always helpful and polite.

"Good value, VALUE Disney Resort"

Pop Century provided us with a pleasant Disney stay experience. It wasn't overly Disney in your face, which was nice after spending so much time at the parks. It is well priced for what is provided. Top tip - Preferred room saves on much walking especially after a long day at the park and its close to the pool. Facilities - For a value resort, the facilities were sufficient for a family of 4 that spent 4 out of the 5 days at the parks. Swimming Pool, Pool activities for the kids - it was always busy but never felt full. Quick Service meal area - Typical fast food affair (see below) Shop, Laundry facilities - a good number of washer/dryers (though there can never be enough if other guests aren't respectful enough to keep an eye on their machines). It definitely isn't 5 star, but was sufficient for what we needed. Room - We had a Preferred room on the second floor facing the garden (not pool area) which was perfect as it was in the main area that was close to all the facilities and we weren't affected by the pool noise. So, this is highly recommended. Our room was one of the recently refurbished rooms with 2 queen beds (one was a Murphy bed), no carpets, small bar fridge which was cool and not cold. We had a bath in our bathroom though it never got used. Toilet in bathroom/separate sink area. We didn't have any complains with the room. There was sufficient space for 2 adults and 2 tweens. Air-conditioning was cold but a little noisy with the auto function. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Didn't find it too noisy except when you had kids running up and down the corridors but what do you expect...it is a children orientated resort. Location - It was a fair way out from the parks but about 10 mins by car to other areas of Kissimmee like Walmart, Applebees, etc which made it relatively convenient. Staff - All generally friendly and helpful. No one stood out to us as being exceptional. Transportation - The Skyliner was a couple of weeks away from working when we were there so we had the use of the shuttle buses which were convenient but not necessarily reliable on timing. More often than not, the buses were late and/or the app/digital sign board wasn't working when telling you how far the buses were away. Could definitely do with more shade in the lining up area. Wait varied from 5 - 30 minutes. The only really good thing was that we had our own buses that went directly to and from the parks. Quick Service - This was probably the worst aspect of Pop Century. The meals were very average. So much so that we avoided eating there. We did use the microwave and toasters provided to self cater breakfast. Low on nutrition and high on junk. I would have expected more healthy options in meals but that wasn't the case. Having said that, it was always busy with families. We ended up taking an Uber to eat outside of the resort in an effort to get better nutrition and self-catered breakfast to do the same. Would I stay here again - Yes. For the price, facilities and our overall use - definitely.

The lighter color of the room illuminates the light that gets past the blinds. They also leave messages at 5am with the red light blinking so much it wakes you up. If that weren't bad enough the walls are so thin you can hear the next room over using the bathroom. The bed isn't comfortable either. And there's no longer a tub to soak away all the stress from walking all day and not sleeping. So good luck. Have a magical day.

"Not So MAGICAL"

Before posting the below, I actually emailed Disney on 9/15/19. As of this post, I have not received a response. My family and I recently stayed at Disney Pop Century from Aug 27 to Sept 5.  We were in room 5122, then moved to room 5222.  ("We" meaning my husband, my 6yr old son who has an ASD, my mother who is handicapped and myself.) This vacation was booked in early 2019 with my sister, bother-in-law, niece and nephew.   When we made the booking we requested to have adjoining rooms or at the least right next to each other so that my sister and her family could assist in helping care for my mother and assit. with my son On numerous occasions, I spoke with various staff in planning the PERFECT Disney vacation.  Each time I spoke to a representative, they always asked if we were celebrating anything special.  We were...my husbands birthday, my mothers birthday, my husband and I wedding anniversary but most importantly, it was my son's, my mothers and my first time going to Disney! We booked our fast passes, our restaurants.  We purchased the photo package, 2 tickets to Savi's Workshop to build light sabers, 2 tickets Oga's Cantina and 3 tickets for the Halloween Party.  We also booked an additional day to the park last minute while we were there. The night before we were arriving, I called and spoke to a representative in regards to checking in on-line vs. checking in when we arrived.  I was advised that there was no difference.  However, in speaking to the representative, she advised that we had 3 separate reservations and nothing was linked.  After 3 way calling with my sister and 3 HOURS ON THE PHONE later, everything was fixed.  She apologized for all the confusion  and advised there would be a "special gift" in our room when we arrived.  There was no "special gift" in our room when we arrived nor did anything come while we were there. I did the on-line check in.  Big mistake.  I had to find out from other guest about the refillable drink cups and the cleaning of the room. In regards to cleaning our room, it happened twice, possible 3 times during our stay.  My husband actually spoke with someone from house cleaning and the lady stated that probably because we took the credit instead of the daily cleaning.  She did however check but that was not the case.  Our room was scheduled to be clean daily.  There was even a day when housekeeping saw us entering our room and asked if we needed towels as she stated we had the do not disturbed tag on our door earlier.  My husband and I looked at each other as entering our room and there was no tag hanging.  I can not even state how many times we had to take out our own garbage.  Furthermore, there is no place to leave trays after you empty your garbage....especially if you are on the second floor.  The garbage cans are not conducive on the second floor for getting rid of food or garbage. In addition, there was a cleaning lady a few doors down from our room.  I asked her for additional towels and she advised that she did not have our room and will contact our cleaner.  Our room was not getting  cleaned as it was but she was not able to hand me some towels off the full cart in front of her. What is the purpose to the people coming to inspect your room if it was not cleaned or safe(will get to safe part in a moment)?  We had problems in the room..full garbage cans but nothing said or done. Back to arriving....no problem obtaining the rented scooter or oxygen machine for my mother.  The bell hop escorted us to our room.  Very nice.  Even showed us how to us the Murphy Bed...a few times.  Late night, early morning plans...we went to bed. The next day when we got back from the park my husband and I discussed how something seemed off about the Murphy Bed.  We went to bed, another early day. Thursday, spoke to housekeeping after seeing how the Murphy Bed was in my sister's room. She advised that she would advise maintenance.   Maintenance knocked on our door as we were leaving for the park.  After trying to fix the bed with the assistance of my husband, advised that the bed was not safe to sleep in and that we needed to change rooms.  As you will see by the attached picture, the bed was not connected to the wall nor was it laying firm to the ground.  The bed was already slept in for 2 nights at this point. And what is the point of someone coming in your room to safety inspect?  Maintenance advised that we would be contacted by front desk with new room.  We were as we were trying to leave for the park again.  We advised that we would change rooms when we got back that we had plans. When we got back that night, we were given our new room.  Not happy that we were moved to the second floor. (Original room 5122...moved to 5222) Now we were separated from our family who was providing assistance.  I went to the front desk to have the magic bands programmed to the new room.  I had all 4 bands to be reprogrammed.   Get to the new room and only 1 band worked.  Back to the front desk again!  Call to have assistance with moving the luggage.  Was advised that they would see if they could find someone.  Again, I have a child who is ASD and a handicapped mother.  A person showed up to help us as we were taking the last of the bags out of the room.  We basically did everything our self. We get settled into the new room to find out that the lights for the Murphy Bed are not connected.  We just went to bed.  My husband fixed the next day. Friday,  I go to take a shower and see that the handicap bar in the shower is not connected.  See picture attached.  Advised housekeeping of the matter and was advised that they would send maintenance.  Whether maintenance ever came or not, not sure.  We are supposed to be on vacation...not living in the room waiting for things to be fixed or made safe.  We asked for a handicapped room for a person who is handicapped-not to be leaving handicapped!!! Needless to say, the bar was never fixed.  Advised my mother not to use it and she was only allowed to take a shower if someone  else was in the room. Also going into room 5222, we found dead bugs on the floor.  Floor was dusty.  The door to the room also did not have a tight seal as you were able to see the light from outside when the room was dark. On Tuesday, we had to book the room an additional night (Wed to Thurs) due to flights be cancelled from the storm.  Parks closed early too.  Relieved that there were cancellations in Savi's so that we were able to change our appointment time before the park closed-parked closed at 2pm. At midnight on Wednesday, our Magic Bands would not work accessing our room.  However, they worked fine making purchases at the store.  Back to front desk again.  Again, after having all bands to be reprogrammed, only 1 worked.  Back to desk again...its way after midnight now.   Thursday we had a 1pm check out.   At 11am, Magic Bands did not work.  Reprogrammed! At noon, Magic Bands did not work....reprogrammed again.  Not making it easy to clean or check out with only 1 band working. Needless to say, very disappointed.  For the most Magical Place , was very very disappointing. ...and to hear the front desk say "I'm sorry" one more time without caring for the problem. Granted, my sister did not experience all the problems that we did.  However, being on a separate floor did not help with the easy access to my mother or storing her scooter.  She and her family only went because of my son and our mother.  Again, Magical Place caused a great deal of stress for 2 families. For the amount of time and money invested, it is not worth it!  Two family's got together to make this a very special FIRST TIME  visit for a 6 year old.  At no point did I think I would have to waste time in my room expecting SAFETY items to be fixed nor making complaints about it. And why every time you speak to someone on the phone do they ask if your celebrating anything??

"Rooms are Great but Buses are AWFUL!!"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5

Really enjoy the refurbished rooms & property but what brought the rating down was the bus transportation. I understand you get what you pay for but this is ridiculous. Average bus wait times going to or from Pop is at least 30-55+ while buses for deluxe resorts are 5-10 minutes. Not surprising to see 3-4 busses for a non value resort while waiting for a Pop bus. Then you add in scooters taking up 3 seats each plus the rider gets off the scooter so there goes a 4th seat. More busses are desperately needed for the value resorts. Shouldn’t have to be spending even more money for Lyft transportation to be able to get to/from a park or Disney Springs.
