"Bike Rentals Near Central Park"
May 2016
We booked a 12 hour bike rental. The company is located a few blocks from central park and they provide a basket, bike lock and helmet if you want to wear it. Bike riding through the city streets seems scary, but once we got our bikes in central park, it was very comfortable and safe. Central park is so large, that bike riding was the best way to see the whole park. We even rode our bikes to the American Museum of Natural History and walked through the museum. Doing a museum and bike riding through the park took the whole day... and was nice way to feel peaceful in the park away from the city. I would recommend a bike rental if your looking to see the whole park without having to walk all of it on foot.

Tip: They give you a lock, basket & helmet. Close to central park. You can only ride your bike on the streets in the park, not the walking paths.

"Eddie is an amazing tour guide!"

My sister and I were fortunate enough to have a private walking tour (courtesy of COVID-19 pandemic, or maybe it was because everyone chose the biking tour?). Eddie, our tour guide, included fun tidbits about Central Park and the sights there. I'm a huge history buff and I enjoyed getting to know the park, it's history, and how it came to be. I also thoroughly enjoyed getting to see my favorite movie spots!

Really enjoyed this leisurely stroll through Central Park with our tour guide, Debra. Having lived in New York for 40 years (and still hasn't lost her Massachusetts accent!), Debra brings both a detailed historical perspective on this hour-long tour of the lower half of Central Park, and oftentimes a very humorous take on the people and events that are part of her narrative. Her sense of humor was infectious and made for a very fun and enjoyable time as we moved through the park. I find that it's always great when someone in-the-know can give you their take on things, esp. when it's the result of having lived in and "seen-it-all" in this amazing city. Including my family of four, there were only 7 of us on this tour (while the weather is often going to be a toss-up at this time of year, I'd highly recommend these types of tours now, when the crowds are smaller), and that made it much more personable for all of us, I think. Much like some of the other tours we were on this week, we were able to move at a comfortable pace and enjoy everything we were seeing. A lot easier to take pictures this way, too (NOTE: if you take this tour with Debra, you WILL be taking pictures; she LOVES to take pictures of you with these great sights of the park you're visiting in the background!!). All-in-all, this was a terrific tour, and you even get Debra's personal recommendations for where to go for a good bite to eat afterwards!

Tour was a 2 hour relaxed walk around Central Park finishing at Strawberry Fields, which is close to the Natural History Museum. Our guide was Chuck, very easy to “get on with” and very knowledgeable. Enjoyed it !

If you are into spotting celebrities (we are not), you can't go wrong in Central Park. They are all out jogging, walking their dogs or just chilling. An absolutely massive place, and you need a lot of time to enjoy it all. You don't need an expensive tour, get get a map!
