"Overall okay"

We were overall satisfied but did find that the bathtub was not clean upon our arrival. Also, there were a couple of lights out...one over one of the beds & another in the bathroom. On one day a maintenance worker banged on our door because he had a work order that said our ac was leaking water on the floor but we weren't having a problem at all, he had the wrong room! The parking lot was full so we had to park across the street the majority of our stay. Overall we were happy with the accommodations. We had ocean front, great access to pools & housekeeping left us alone as we requested. We also had beautiful weather!

Tip: Go prepared to pay additional money upon check-in. If I had not looked ahead of time I would have been shocked that I had to pay an additional $138 upon check-in.

Rooms were clean and actually works great. Had to turn it up when we checked in they worked so well. Multiple pools that are very clean and the resort is directly on the beach for an added bonus.

My family and I were all going to stay at the Caravelle Resort. Due to the hurricane that damage part of the resort, one of the rooms we booked was unavailable. The manager was nice enough to give my family options on our rooms. It all worked out for the best.

The amenities were great, staff was very friendly, and everything was well advertised. That being said, the place was dirties than I expected. From cigarette butts in the elevator (and I am a smoker) to pizza boxes on the floor in the parking garage. The elevators were very slow as well. The rooms were fantastic with amazing views. Just wish it was a little cleaner.

Maintenance needs to work on the air and the door for the closet came off the hinges. Bathrooms could be more cleaner. I had to go out and buy cleaning supplies to clean. But over all good experience 👍🏼

Room was overpriced to be out of season. Parking garage on the hotel side is congested and hard to park, use across the street. Better hotels in the area with same prices. I will try to make the best of my stay but will cross this place of my list of places to stay down here.

I was in town for the MB World Amateur Golf Tournament and wanted a place on the ocean. I found the Caravelle Resort during an internet search and the first thing to catch my eye was the cost. Early week savings specials is the way to go. My room was overlooking the Ocean just as I had asked for. I was treated to a full moon shining over the ocean every night. Spectacular! The room came with everything it claimed and the view from the balcony made it all worth it. The only negative was the cracked floor title at the entrance to the bathroom. It could have done some damage to bare feet.

The review below is copied from an email I sent to the general manager Chip Russell: So Mr Russell, I am holding true to my work by posting my review verbatim... Hello Mr Russell. We are guests in your hotel in room 1004, I spoke to you earlier this morning concerning our displeasure with our Caravelle experience. I can assure it hasn’t gotten any better since our arrival last night (Friday night, Saturday morning). The first issue was actually getting into our room. The night clerk gave us key cards that wouldn’t work not once but twice. So imagine you and your family had just traveled 9 hours straight to your destination, check in around 1:45AM, unload the car, haul all of your stuff to your room, only to find your key card doesn’t work... No worries, I’ll just Take the elevator from the 10th floor, walk myself back across the street, deal with a grumpy night clerk who offers no apology, simply swaps the cards and sends you on your way. Walk yourself back across the street and up to your room where the rest of your family is waiting. Your wife and three kids, ages 7, 10, and 18. All standing outside in the dark with your luggage. Only to find out that set of keys is not working either. Walk back across you go again to swap key cards, same thing as earlier... Thankfully, it works this time... walk into your room at last, approx 45 minutes later, only to find your toilet stopped up... Call the front desk, receive no answer, walk back across the street to see about getting it I stopped so the family can relieve themselves after being in the car for that long... The grumpy night clerk says he doesn’t have a key to open a maintenance closet where he could retrieve a plunger for YOU to unstop the toilet. He did offer some advice to “close the water valve, allow the water to go down, turn the water back on and try it”. I said “I’m a general contractor with my own company, and that is just asinine”. He said maintenance will be in in the morning. If this happened to you on your hard earned family vacation, I’m sure you’d be far less than pleased! Wake up time around 7:30, toilet still stopped up, another call is placed to front desk concerning toilet, maintenance guy shows up around 9. Doesn’t say a word to anyone, unstopped toilet and leaves. Finally, we can use the toilet without leaving our room! Went to the swimming pool only to be told we needed wristbands to swim. Okay, well we asked the night clerk at checkin if we needed wristbands for the pool only to be simply told “NO you do not”. Okay, so off to the office again to attain wristbands and that’s when I met you. Told you a brief summary of our stay so far and was reminded of the oven door being sprung but was fixed in short order... Everything seemed to be on track until we realized we were out of clean towels and the linen service does not provide services after 3. Called the front desk and told her we needed to swap towels out. She says “ no worries, I’ll let them know”. At 3, still no towels, another call is placed, same thing one again, 4pm, another call, at 5 yet another. She did say housekeeping was waiting on clean towels but they’d be over soon. Leave for a while and return at 6:30.... Make it back to we still didn’t have any towels. Another call Is made and was told she’d call them to See what’s going on. Our fresh towels finally come at 7:05 PM. Finally!! This is our first day of a 3 day stay, less than 24 hours mind you, and we have been very disappointed and angry. We save money all year to make this trip every annually. To think we’re paying almost $200 per night and get this treatment Is truly unacceptable and infuriating. We can stay almost anywhere in Myrtle Beach or any other beach for that matter. Put our trust in The Caravelle to deliver an acceptable experience is not too much to ask. Apparently wanting to use the toilet in your room Is too much to ask. Or have clean towels, or have keys that work the first time, or to be denied entry to the pool because the night shift clerk for what ever reason, tells you it not necessary. We don’t expect 5 star treatment. If we did we’d stay in a 5 star resort. My wife and I will be sharing this letter to you verbatim, as a review on every social media website we can find. I hope you utilize our miserable experience as a learning tool and hopefully get your trusted staff the training they need to run a successful hotel operation.
