My family and I were all going to stay at the Caravelle Resort. Due to the hurricane that damage part of the resort, one of the rooms we booked was unavailable. The manager was nice enough to give my family options on our rooms. It all worked out for the best.

"What a disappointment"

I booked a reservation here months in advance, went back to check the reservation before we were set to leave and we was booked in the wrong room in the wrong building, no problem, I call the resort and they fix it. We drove down on Monday June 10, six hours to get here. Check in was good. The staff at the front desk are wonderful people. We go across the street to unload our luggage only to find one cart and the wheel on it is broken?? Stood and waited forever. Still no carts. Walked back across the street to inform the staff, they radio someone to find a cart. We get the cart loaded and ALL of the elevators are down. None of them are working, and the foul smell coming from the area is unreal, all the guests are complaining because no one can get to their rooms. I climb eight flights of steps to get to the room we are staying in only to be disappointed, the beds are so small and we are overlooking the sun deck which I specifically asked NOT to be located. Call back down to the front desk and Susan, bless her heart tries every means necessary to find us another room but nothing is accomodating not even the condos next door which are so outdated its unreal, but I do give her credit for trying. We ended up getting refund a staying somewhere else. The staff at the front desk are wonderful people but this place really needs a complete overhaul.

Staff is very friendly, rooms are clean, we've stayed here over 30 years sometimes 2-3 times a year. Seems every year we've visited over the last few years, excluding renovation year, we've been disappointed with the overall atmosphere there. It used to be a nice family hotel but seems now the young people have taken over. We had loud music below us, we were on the 15th floor. Loud neighbors beside us as well as slamming doors early morning and very late at night. I would still recommend staying here just come in early spring or in the fall when things are a little quieter

We had a great time. We like to try different hotels in Myrtle Beach and this was a good catch. The room was newly updated and it looked really good. Angel was great and even got us an oceanfront room! She was friendly and helped make check in great. The four stars is for the pool not being heated especially at night time when it was really chilly and the hot tub was overcrowded. The parking was fine, they have an overflow parking deck across the street. We will definitely come back to this hotel.

"It was ok"

For the price point it’s ok. There does not seem to be a lot of employees or personal service at the hotel. The elevators are a complete nightmare. It was the number 1 complaint among all the guests we ran into. The main pool is extremely cold and the facilities are out of date. The game room was awful and smelled as if someone has used the bathroom right in the middle of the room. Games were expensive and out of date. We didn’t do much at the hotel other then sleep and swim. The location is great and very convenient. It’s ok when traveling with a child but I would not recommend to anyone looking for quality over price. Overall it wasn’t horrible but was not somewhere that I believe we would stay again.

"Pools are excellent!"

We stayed in St. Johns Inn, room 311. Price is under $700 for a week. The amount is good but there are things that need to be fixed so they should lower the cost. The positives: 1. Beach access is across the street. 2. You have access to a couple different pools. 3. There is one elevator, however we never had to wait in line for it. 4. There are grills available for use you just need charcoal or wood. 5. On site laundry mat. Washer $1.50. Dryer $3.00. 6. Shower is excellent. 7. Two ice machines, a vending machine and a drink machine is available. Across the street is a bar and more. The negatives: 1. The dryer takes two hours to dry. So instead of $1.50 its $3.00. 2. The last two days of our stay we did not receive fresh towels or more toilet paper. We had to go to the store and purchase our own. 3. The pool closes at 11 pm. I wish it didn't close at all. I mean we are on vacation and schedules are for working. So just leave it open. 4. For a family of five we try and eat in the room a couple of meals to save money for activities. However, there are only two chairs at the wobbly table. 5. The beds are so soft. However, they are so squeaky and your pillows will fall through the crack of the bed and wall. 6. To flush the toilet you have to first shut the lid. Then reach up under the short counter top to reach the handle. 7. The sight off our balcony is a huge parking garage. 8. The ice machine on the third floor was broken. 9. Our bucket for the ice had a leak. 10. The carpet is old and needs to be changed asap.
