The Sun Dial Restaurant, Bar & View sits atop the celebrated Westin Peachtree Plaza which makes up Atlanta's awe-inspiring city skyline. The once revolving restaurant has stopped utilizing its clockwise rotating floor and has no plans to resume. The tri-level complex includes an upscale restaurant, cocktail lounge, and observatory level with panorama vistas of the Atlanta horizon from 723 feet high.
Westin Peachtree Plaza

Recognized as one of Atlanta’s most legendary landmarks, the hotel showcases soaring columns, contemporary art and multi-level murals. Its world-class service and amenities make it one of Georgia's best-known attractions. The hotel has over 80,000 feet of meeting space and a direct connection to the AmericasMart and Southern Exchange ballrooms. With four-star accommodations and marvelous views of the downtown cityscape, though the Westin’s top feature lies on its top floor.
Sun Dial History
In 1976 world-renowned architect John Portman designed the Westin Peachtree Plaza, which replaced the Henry Grady Hotel. The 73-story building is a cylindrical tower with reflective glass containing 1,073 rooms, 200,000 gross square feet of meeting space, exhibition space, and a stunning 90-foot sky-lit lobby. Until 1987 Peachtree Plaza was Atlanta’s tallest building at 723 feet. The One Atlantic Center building reclaimed the honor, though the Plaza remained the tallest Hotel in the Southeast. However, the Sun Dial Restaurant, Bar & View, lured visitors and kept them.

The Hotel underwent a grand $70 million renovation in 2014. Peachtree Plaza is close to Atlanta’s top business venues and city attractions, including the CNN Center, The Georgia Aquarium, Centennial Olympic Park, Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the World of Coca-Cola.
After its million-dollar makeover, the restaurant and bar have a fresh, revived look with modern lighting and eye-catching woodwork. It's one of the city's mainstay establishments for tourists and locals.
The Sun Dial Restaurant
In addition to the hotel's stunning setting, the Sun Dial Restaurant is best known for its prix fixe menu and southern-inspired themes. It offers seafood delicacies like its Southern Calamari and its Mussels Mariniere. What's more, its other tantalizing menu items include the Rock of Lamb, Loch Duart Salmon paired with a Lemon Buerre Blanc, Filet Mignon in Bearnaise Sauce, and Sweet Potatoes Gnocchi with caramelized pearl onions and roasted garlic.
Know Before You Go
Here are some quick tips to save you time before you head over to the Sun Dial.
- Reservations: The Sun Dial requires reservations through its website via OpenTable. Reservations should not exceed seven guests, and all guests must be present to be seated.
- Attire: Casual attire is acceptable at all times in Sun Dial’s Bar and View areas and during lunch hours at the Restaurant. The Restaurant requests business casual attire for dinner and asks that guests refrain from wearing athletic gear, cut-off or jean shorts, hats and flip flops.
- Dietary Requirements: The Sun Dial is happy to meet any specific dietary requirements and offers vegetarian entrees and appetizers.
- Children’s Menu: The Sun Dial children’s menu offers a variety of dishes available at lunch and dinner.
- Dessert Only: The Sun Dial requires each person dining on Level 71 to order an entrée at dinner or a sandwich/entrée at lunch.
- Corkage Fee: The restaurant offers an extensive wine list with various wine types and prices. Personal wine is not permitted in the restaurant, and the Sun Dial does not offer a corkage fee.

Sun Dial Cakes
The delicious cakes at Sun Dial are as legendary as the views. Each cake costs $60 and serves up to 15 guests. Flavors include:

The Sun Dial Restaurant Bar
The Bar on Level 73 is available for appetizers and desserts if guests want to check out the view with a lighter fare. Children are allowed in the Bar on Level 73 from Sunday to Thursday during all operational hours and Friday and Saturday from opening until 8:00 p.m. After 8:00 p.m., only guests 21 years or older are allowed in the Bar with proper ID.
Food is served in the Bar until 11:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until midnight on Monday, Friday and Saturday.
Sun Dial charges adults $8 and $4 for children to visit the View Observation level. The restaurant waives the fee for hotel guests.
The Sun Dial Restaurant Bar Directions & Parking
Directions to Sun Dial. Take Exit 249A (Courtland Street), follow the third traffic light, and turn right on International Boulevard. Take a left on Peachtree Street, then make a sharp right onto Carnegie Way. Go two blocks and turn right onto Spring Street. The Westin Peachtree will be on the right.

Sun Dial has Valet and self-parking for guests. Valet parking is available at the West Peachtree Plaza. For guests dining on Level 71, Sun Dial validates hotel parking for up to two hours at lunch and three hours at dinner.
There is also a self-parking Central Park Systems deck at 218 Peachtree St. NW. Sun Dial also provides validation for up to three hours at this location.
