"Would definitely go back"
March 2019
I booked a trip to Orlando through the phone operator, she was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. The resort was beautiful and there were so many things to do, I couldn't get to everything in the short time I was on premises. We were there during the Winter so it was quiet and very comfortable.

"Worst craziest experience of my life. Total Scam."

We arrived at 8:15am 15 minutes early to attend a tour and presentation of the property. I noted they had police officers in the lobby of the location for the tour. We were with our 3 children. The sales rep (who appeared to be still intoxicated from the night before) assigned to us was not happy that we were with our children and she stated the tour could not proceed unless our children were put in the care of Westgate employees. So I explained we would rather keep our children with us and that when we booked we were told children were welcome on the tour. Then she started making comments that our kids would be better off without us and other crazy comments. She was becoming very combative. So we asked for a Manager and requested a different sales rep. So they had us sit there for over an hour only to tell us we could not take the tour and that we would have to pay hundreds of dollars more on top of what we paid, to receive the gift offer originally promised. Now I know why they have police officers there, place is a total scam. Wasted my families time. We wanted to see the place. We are actually considering purchasing a time share and have another tour scheduled with another company in December. Stay away from this place.

We spent the last 5 days at this resort. Received discounted booking for 90 minute time share presentation. The resort is older but the room was nice. The last day there we went to our 7:30am time share cattle call with complementary breakfast. Time share dealer Lauren seemed annoyed with me and husband from the beginning. We were polite and listened but had zero interest in buying in. The breakfast was served on the far end of the resort followed by a cart ride to the other end of the resort. At the end of the tour they sit you down and show you the numbers including a loan for 42,000 with 17% interest!! We declined to purchase. They then proceed to send over several other swindlers with different "deals". At the end of this I asked if we had met out 90min requirement to which Lauren replied "No your time didn't start till you finish breakfast, your not done, I decide when your done." We sat in silence for several minutes until another grifter came over offered us one more chance to give them our money. At the end of this we were told we could exit via the stairs. We had to walk all the way back to our car as punishment I guess. I was not shocked by any of this. I expected that people who make money peddling terrible products would not be the nicest in the world. That night things got a little weird Around 10pm we were in our room which was next door to the larger suite connected by a common corridor with a door leading to the hallway. We heard someone open the door from the hallway and grab the bags of trash that had been sitting out there all day. Then the person came back in and knocked on our door. We answered and lady said she was housekeeping and was asking about cleaning our room. The lady seemed surprised that we where sleeping at 10pm. Not sure what the deal was but the whole situation seemed shady and I was glad this was our last night there.

"Fine if you dont plan on staying in the room long"

We have stayed at Westgate Lakes 3 times now. We remembered the first two visits fondly and decided to stay here while searching for apartments in the area. The first two stays were vacations to the theme parks. Westgate markets this resort as “luxury condos” but its barely better than staying and a normal chain hotel for less. The beds are extremely uncomfortable and the walls are paper thin. The TV has horrible reception and the remote was half broken. The furniture on the terrace is dirty and we found a couple of stray caterpillars in the room when we got to the room. Parking is also very limited, they do have a garage but depending on where you are on this huge complex it could mean you’ll have a long walk back to your room. They also take “convenience pricing” to a new level in their market place. I paid double what i would have if i had gone to cvs. The food options onsite also leaves a lot to be desires. Also this is one of those resorts that will try and sell you a timeshare. All in all if you are in town for the parks and the rates are low you might not notice how mediocre it is. I dont think we will be staying here again.

"Never Again"

My family and I came to the Westgate Lakes Resort to celebrate my son’s birthday. The first night we pulled out the sofa bed and the mattress had a dark stain covering 70% of the bed. We called and the front desk sent someone to change the mattress, fair enough. We thought that was the end of our problems boy was I wrong. The next night after a very long day at Legoland, we returned to find a huge opposum blocking the entry to our room. We called front desk and they said that they would send someone over, they never did. My family and I waited over and hour for the opossum to finally go up the next flight of stairs. There was trash bags left in front of rooms for long periods of time which we believe attracted the animal in the first place. Finally at check in I was told that my deposit would be returned to me after check out, well 3 days later I realized that the deposit was charged and not returned. When I spoke to a representative, I was informed that I was charged for resort fees because the agent forgot to collect them at check in. The agent that checked me in never mentioned anything about additional fees. I am so disappointed in my stay at this property and they have the nerve to try and sell you a timeshare, Never!

"Home Away From Home"

First of all, I have owned at Westgate since 1996. I have brought friends, family, and have stayed alone. I always look forward to my trip and am proud to bring others to my vacation “home”. Over the years the amenities have changed, always for the better. I miss some of the bygone items, but it is in the name of progress. As for staff and service, they could not be nicer or more accommodating and gracious. John the Bell Captain, Freedom Bellman, Denise, Gabby, Toni at the bars, Jesliann in the Activities Center, DJ Dennis. The list goes on and on. And, by the way, take the time to ask the personnel how many years of service they have here. The answer is staggering! And, it is nice to be greeted and remembered the following year by a familiar face. Now, on to the Sales Department. Yes, they have a goal in mind. That goal is to sell time shares. And all of the “promos” clearly state just that. So, if you don’t want a sales pitch, stay somewhere else. Where else can you stay for such a price and the only investment from you is your time? Ultimately it is up to you as to how you handle the persuasion. To this day, I am annually solicited for upgrades. I am actually refreshed by the information. Sometimes it has been for me, sometimes not. I currently reside in one of the most gorgeous units in the entire complex. Not to mention they are deeded. In closing, and only to be fair, have I ever had an issue here? Of course I have. But everything has always been handled professionally and timely. And happily. I realize timeshare living is not for everyone, but it has certainly been good to me. I welcome those who would like to share the wonderful experience, but to those who want something for nothing, not so much. I hope everyone has a terrific stay here!!!!
