"Would definitely go back"
March 2019
I booked a trip to Orlando through the phone operator, she was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. The resort was beautiful and there were so many things to do, I couldn't get to everything in the short time I was on premises. We were there during the Winter so it was quiet and very comfortable.

"Just timeshare"

So I stayed here because I had to for my job. However when I returned not for work, I was forced to sit through a presentation that was time wasting. They don’t take no for an answer, and really it’s easier just to pay disney prices, and skip the timeshare bs.

"Good for the price you pay"

I read the reviews on here before going and I was sceptical as there was so many bad reviews. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and had a nice bathroom. The staff were ok, but I feel like many of them don’t know what they are talking about. For instance I enquired if the gym was free and I was told it is included in the price . Went up to the gym in the morning and he said I have to pay extra. Also the room cleaning was not predictable as sometimes they would give towels , coffee and toilet paper and sometimes there would be none. Other than that I was happy with my stay and would probably stay again.

"This place does not deserve your money. Stay anywhere else."

TL;DR: Spend your money somewhere else. There are literally dozens of great hotels and resorts to stay at within only a mile or two of this place. Westgate Lakes is NOT worth your time or money. My fiance and I stayed here last weekend for 3 nights. Within the first 30 minutes of being there, I wished I had booked us literally anywhere else. Upon arrival, the place looked gorgeous. The staff were pretty friendly. Checking in at the counter took only a few minutes. After checking in and getting our room key, we were taken by a staff member to another desk where we thought we'd be passed off to someone who would show us to our room. The resort is pretty huge, with several buildings, so this was naturally our assumption. NOPE. That is NOT what happened. After several hours of traveling, and feeling tired and hungry for dinner, we had to listen to some lady who worked for the hotel try to rope us into attending some sort of timeshare-esque seminar. She promised it was only an hour, and that just for showing up, we would be given $75 cash and a free 2 night stay whenever we wanted. Fine. We just wanted the interaction to be over so we could finally retire to our room, so we caved, gave her the $10 fee to "hold our spot" for the seminar, and left. She could tell after a few minutes of back and forth that we were getting really exasperated, so she gave us a couple boxes of cookies, I guess to get us to go with what she wanted. We get to our room (which took forever cause the guy driving us in the golf cart to our building kept slowing down and stopping along the way to talk to us. UGH), again at first it looked really nice, but as we continued exploring, we noticed how dirty it was. there was some bits of trash in the corners, dirt in the hot tub, and BLACK MOLD IN THE SHOWER!!!! It was frankly, disgusting. We were too exhausted to go through the effort of changing our room that night, and the bed was thankfully clean and very comfy, so we dealt with it. The next morning we got up early to get ready to go to Universal. That's when I noticed that the "room with a view of the lake" we were promised at check-in was overlooking a construction site with a giant mud pit. That's right, OUR ROOM WAS ON TOP OF A CONSTRUCTION SITE WITH A MUD PIT! And these people had the absolute audacity to call this a view of a lake. Lmao are you freaking kidding me?!?? So we agreed that night that we would switch our room. We got back that night and again were far too exhausted from the events of the day to pack up all our stuff, move rooms, and unpack again. It was just too much. And this whole situation wouldn't have happened in the first place if these people had just not put us on top of a construction site. Monday morning we were awoken by the lovely sounds of the construction site actually being active. Let me tell ya, hearing an excavator going all out on a mud hole is one heck of a way to be woken up on your expensive "resort" vacation. I'm not even gonna get too far into detail on how the timeshare meeting went. Long story short...it didn't. We had to wake up pretty early on Sunday morning to get there, and we were still beat from the day before. So to have a little fun, we filled out the paperwork with some joke answers, thinking the staff might get a kick out of it, and we'd start the day on a better foot. NOPE. These people got so frustrated, kept bouncing us from person to person, telling us to wait at the counter, only to have someone else tell us to go have a seat. What. A. Sh*t Show! They finally told us that because we marked $0 as our household income we would either have to provide income statements (on the spot - - yea sure, I totally carry those with me on vacation lol) or we would be "disqualified" from attending the seminar. They apparently don't require any sort of proof that you make the amount of money they *want* you to make, so this seemed pretty stupid to us. We offered to show them our bank statements to prove that we're not broke, but they would have none of that. Guess they didn't want our money that badly hahaha, they didn't even care that as a household w/ no kids or dependents, we bring in over $100k annually. Whatever. We decided to just get outta there and spend our money on a whim to go back to Universal for another day. Best decision ever. When we left, we couldn't get out of there fast enough. We told every Uber driver we came in contact with for the rest of the day to NEVER stay there. One of them said his wife had been thinking of doing a staycation there, and said he would tell her to knock it off the list! At least some good came of us staying there. If you made it this far in this review, good. I'm sincerely hoping that you choose literally anywhere else to stay. You're not spending your hard-earned money to go on vacation to sign paperwork or be swindled by pushy salespeople into a timeshare seminar. Spend that money somewhere else. This place just plain sucks.

The entrance and registration building are the gem of this resort. This is a vacation owner facility and you will offer you “deals” to take the tour. I am not an owner here and booked with Interval International. The room was nice and the 2 bedroom was large and furnished comfortably. Seven pool areas and did not find a gradual entry for little kids but fun area for all with activities and a bars. Nice little mall area but they offer nothing to keep you on property. We stayed at Mystic Dunns and Holiday Inn Orange Lake on this trip and we would recommend Holiday Inn Orange Lake. The young lady at check in said she would put us on third floor and we would have a nice view of the property and lake.😂
