"Family beach vacation"
July 2017
My family and I were relocated from this hotel's "sister hotel" due to the hurricane damage to our original hotel. It was nice that the hotel is at the beach. We can go to the beach whenever we want and as often as we want. The pool area was a nice place to lay on the lounge chairs and relax. My family enjoyed their stay and would come back to this hotel again.

Tip: They have yellow beach towels that you can borrow and use at the pool and/or at the beach. You can trade them for dry ones during your stay. When you are ready to check-out, you just return the towels at the front desk.

Our family stayed in a one bedroom deluxe, and while the resort itself is in a great location, and is close to the beach, overall we were pretty underwhelmed by our accommodations. Since units are individually owned, it’s a crapshoot to determine whether you end up with a fully renovated unit, or an extremely dated and uncomfortable unit, which is what we unfortunately ended up with. We would stay here again, but only if we were provided an updated room. Photos are attached and details are below. PROs: -Great location and a quick walk to the pools and beach -The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They’re not offering daily housekeeping as part of their COVID measures, but when I called and asked for a quick refresh, they were quick and thorough. We were also able to check in an hour or so early, which was nice. -We enjoy beach and pool time, so having several pool and hot tub options was a big plus CONs: -The room- I expect clean and comfortable, and our furniture was old, hard, smelled musty and had stains. The recliner, which took up a ton of space, was missing an entire section of cushion. For a “deluxe”, our room was anything but, and we were really disappointed by that, especially as we walked down the halls and could see into other rooms that had clearly been updated in the last decade. I also hate carpet at the beach, especially when it is old and dingy (our feet were already turning black after a couple of hours). The TV was awful and had to be re-programmed before it could be used, and the sound never worked properly for one of the channels. We never did figure out how to use the one in the bedroom. Room 815 is in desperate need of some TLC! -Cleanliness- Overall the resort and room were tidy, but given the COVID circumstances, I expected things to be extra clean. Our room TVs were very dusty, and there was hair in the bathroom. The pool/patio areas didn’t appear to be cleaned or maintained often enough throughout the day, as we’d see garbage on the ground or things floating in the pools. I also didn’t see anyone wiping down chairs after use, which would have been a bit more reassuring.

We visited at a time that Myrtle Beach was having a spike in Covid cases. We took our chance and took our Lysol spray, our Clorox wipes, our face masks and plenty of hand sanitizer. When we arrived at Sea Watch we were greeted with a very nice and friendly lady. I’m sorry I didn’t get her name, but all the staff wore face mask and was practicing social distancing in the lobby. We stayed in unit 1009 on the 10th floor and in the South tower. Our 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo was beautiful decorated and clean. Even though everything was clean we still sprayed down door knobs, remotes, refrigerator handles and anything else that we could think of. After that dried we went over it with Clorox wipes. We were sitting on our balcony one evening after the pools were closed we watched the staff go around and spray all the chairs around the pool with what I’m assuming was some kind of sanitizer. The resort took every precaution to keep things clean. We had a great stay and felt safe. I would highly recommend staying here. Even in a Covid spike.
