"Perfect NYC home base"

Wonderful experience - exceeded expectations! Small but very well thought out rooms. I felt there was plenty of space for 1-2 people in the Queen room. Shower had great water pressure and was sizable. Perfect location for exploring the city. Close to Times Square but far enough away to not feel like you step into the bustle upon exiting. The only downside was the service in the restaurant onsite - the main dining on second floor. Roof and bar were great, but that main dining area left some to be desired, plenty of other good places to eat in NYC! A very active hotel - lots of common spaces for lounging. I can see not liking it if you're looking for a more upscale luxury feel, or want something a little quieter and more refined, but if you want an active hub in the heart of NYC and are out about enjoying all the city has its the perfect place to lay your head!

Positive From the moment we arrived, the staff were some of the most welcoming and informative I've ever had in a hotel and were extremely helpful throughout the stay. The vibe is very relaxed and easy going and nothing feels like too much or a stupid question. We nearly didn't book this hotel, but after reading so many good reviews and so many bad reviews of other hotels where people were given mystery smoking charges etc, we chose Moxy. The hotel is very modern and extremely clean, unlike a lot of tired and run down places in NYC. After a long day of traveling it was such a lovely welcome! The rooms are stunning and have everything you need, including hairdryer, clothes steamer, fresh towels every day, modern tv, fast and free internet, amazing showers... I could go on. The hotel has so many facilities. Fitness centre, extremely secure luggage storage at no extra cost, stunning bars and restaurants; including the rooftop bar with stunning views of the Empire State Building and The Edge. A nice surprise for us was that the room came with a a $20 a day credit that we could use on anything we liked... food or drinks in the bars or restaurants and there is also a pop up cafe in the bar in the morning you can get pastries and coffees and use the credit for that too. So if you're out all night, you can still make use of the free credit without feeling like you have to come back to the hotel to use the bar. In terms of the location, it's PERFECT. From JFK you can be at the hotel in 45 minutes by taking the air train from the airport to Jamaica station and then hopping on the LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) to Penn Station (The journey costs about $15-$20pp - depending on/off peak times). From there it's just a couple of blocks walk from the station (5-10 minutes), so absolutely no issue with getting to the hotel with cases. No need for cabs/ubers. I honestly can't praise this hotel enough! They even made a special effort for our 10 year anniversary and decorated the room! Negative (Not really, just “could be better” The rooms are on the small side but then large rooms don't really exist in NYC unless you want to pay a premium, and when you are out and about all day, it doesn't really matter! We chose to upgrade the room for I think an extra £30 for the week for a slightly bigger room, basically not the smallest one (next one up) and it was worth it. Honestly, this is just to provide some balance and set expectations for people... but it really didnt effect our stay whatsoever. More just something to bear in mind if you haven't been to NYC before that all rooms are small. The only other thing would be we had a room on the front of the hotel (street side) and it was quite noisy at night. The windows don't insulate from noise all that well so definitely take some ear plugs. Alternatively maybe ask for a none street side room? (You wont be missing any views by doing this, you just look at the another building across the street) However, again, its NYC... its noisy, so just manage your expectations.

"HOT rooms"

Rooms were VERY hot. We did speak to the front desk and it wasn’t fixed. We told the front desk again and the group of 3 said they would look into again. They didn’t. No offer to move rooms or anything. We asked 3 times for this to be fixed and nothing was done. Very disappointed in the lack of concern for your guests. They looked us right in the eye and said someone would fix it, then just didn’t do it.

The staff at reception were all nice to us and very professional in helping. I think 3 to 4 d nights in NY is wonderful but more than this is alittle too much. Final word, stay at Moxy and you will like this hotel every much.
