"One of the Most Unprofessional and Sketchy Hotel Experiences I’ve Ever Had"

If I could give zero stars, I would. When we arrived, the pullout couch was absolutely disgusting. We had to request sheets and pillows just to make our own bed. The walls were so thin we could hear everything, so forget about getting any sleep. But the condition of the room was only part of the problem. The staff behavior was what really pushed this experience into disturbing territory. We were in town for a wedding but received a family emergency call and weren’t sure if we’d be returning that night. So we put our luggage in the car just in case. Suddenly I started getting calls from the hotel because the maid had gone into our room and reported that we didn’t leave any luggage. I cannot emphasize enough how creepy and invasive that is. Why is a staff member snooping around and keeping tabs on whether guests leave bags behind? It was beyond unprofessional. I explained to the front desk (a woman named Linda) that we might not return that night due to possibly having to head home, and instead of showing understanding, she pressured us to “make a decision” by 6 p.m. It felt like they were trying to double-dip—charge me while re-renting the room. Even after asking if management could approve a refund, I was told they’d look into it, but no one followed up. I had to call again during the wedding photos, and still no action was taken. In the end, I never received a refund or even a partial refund from the manager, who I believe was Kimberly. And yet, I was still asked to leave a positive review. The nerve. I paid for the room. My whereabouts, my luggage, and whether I return or not should not be monitored or questioned. The entire stay felt sketchy, invasive, and stressful—on top of being flat-out uncomfortable. I absolutely do not recommend this hotel. Between the filthy conditions and the shady, overbearing staff, it was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The hotel is great. The staff always welcome me as special guest. I love the staff, Enzo and Davinder are great people. Front desk staff, Manny and Kim are amazing too. Great location. The hotel has great amenities, breakfast buffet is always fresh. Must visit hotel in Vaughan.

This is the first time at this hotel and our experience was not what we expected from IHG. This is also the first time I’ve ever written a review on a hotel and my experience with it. We have stayed at several hotels. We travel a lot for business as well as leisure. I had no issues with the hotel appearance, cleanliness or the rooms. Our issue was the extreme noise level. I see others have also reported this in the recent reviews. Perhaps I should have spent more time reading reviews before choosing this hotel. There were hockey teams there the night we stayed and it was so incredibly loud into the early hours of the morning. I didn’t use self checkout the next day because I wanted to let them know of our experience in person. When we checked out at the desk the clerk was the one that said they had hockey teams staying and that they had several complaints. He then said I should have called security to inform them . This never occurred to me to call for noise issues. I asked for a manger to speak to and he said one would call me at the end of day as they have no management on till 3 pm. I never heard back. I finally contacted the night manager the next evening after I still didn’t receive my call from her. However this call was more disappointing than the experience of staying overnight with very little sleep. During the call with the desk manager I was told the check out clerk never told me there was a hockey team there and I never asked for a manager to call me back. First and foremost how would I know they had a hockey team and how would I know they had no daytime manager if I didn’t request it while leaving? I also reached out to IHG and was offered 15000 points credited and I said no I will be speaking to the manager so they are made aware of the experience. This most likely was a big mistake because the response from the hotel manager in regards to my concerns and experience was indifferent. Also the manager explained that it’s brand hotel to decide how IHG members are welcomed when checking in. Although we were verbally acknowledged for being a member this was the first time we didn’t get the complimentary water and little bag or extra points that we get when we stay with other IHG hotels. I was told that other IHG hotels shouldn’t be doing it and that they don’t need to. It goes a long way for that little extra effort. In fact she said they only do this extra welcoming for the platinum or diamond members.i have been with IhG for I think 13-15 years. I guess club members don’t matter. I was once a platinum member with IHg but now belong to other hotel brands that I have the credit card points for. These brands of hotels make all rewards members feel welcome not just the higher status members. Regardless if I’m no longer a platinum member the way you are welcomed makes a huge impact and first impressions mean everything. I will be reaching out to the general manager and will also follow up with IHG. If you are considering booking at this hotel I would recommend asking if there are teams or tournaments going on and ask for a different floor from them. As others have said the rooms are very spacious the area is a little further but this will also depend on what you are doing and where. The most disappointing thing about this experience is the dishonesty from the clerk at the desk upon leaving. Clearly he doesn’t remember customer concerns and has no issue altering facts. Im really disappointed with this IHG hotel and honestly I would not recommend anyone to stay here with the lack of customer service.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Vaughan SW in a King Suite with cooking and sofa bed. The room is quite basic with inexpensive contemporary type furnishings. The sofa bed is right by the entrance to the room then an area with a coffee machine microwave and mini fridge separates the bedroom area with a king bed. The bathroom was very nice with a full-sized walk-in shower and DOVE brand soap, shampoo and conditioner. The bedroom king bed was very nice and comfortable for sleeping. The SOFA BED was in a word disgusting, a cheap thin mattress that was badly stained and afforded absolutely no comfort or rest for an adult. Housekeeping provided a very basic set of two flat sheets and thin blanket and cheap pillow. If you do plan to stay at this Holiday Inn Express DO NOT select the sofa bed option. Otherwise, the basic furnishing are inexpensive and not comfortable however, the bed is what you would expect from Holiday and was very nice. There are two nice restaurants located directly adjacent the hotel and a fast food outlet very close.
