"The Hampton standard is here!"

When I travel, I usually stay at a Hilton residence because I’m a Hilton Honnors member. I stay at Hilton hotels in for consistency sake and my go to choice for affordability is a stay Hampton Inn. I came to the Libertyville area because of the birth of my first grandchild. My son‘s place is a little bit too small for me. So my choice was Hampton inn. Initially, I booked a stay at another Hampton Inn, which was absolutely terrible. I’m not gonna mention the name right now or where it was but it just was not up to the standards of Hilton Quality. I then switched over to the Hampton Inn at Libertyville/Chicago and it was like night and day. The hotel was clean. The staff was excellent. You could see the pride that the cleaning staff had. The room was absolutely the best. The exercise room was clean at all times and always stocked with fresh towels. I’d like to give a shout out in particular to the manager Sabrina Maganan, she went above and beyond. Her leadership, attention to detail, and genuine care for the guest experience truly shine. Also, Leah at the front desk provided excellent customer service. She was warm, professional, and incredibly helpful. Matter of fact everyone there made me feel valued, welcomed, and appreciated from start to finish. If you’re traveling in the Libertyville area or the northern suburbs, please consider this hotel, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

"Nice hotel, but.."

Hotel itself was nice and clean; staff friendly. Breakfast was OK. Main issue, and not the fault of the hotel was that the location was right off a very busy road. Road noise was very bad. If you are a light sleeper, you might get some relief by earplugs or choosing a low number room on the odd side.

"Almost Perfect -- With One Major Issue"
TripAdvisor user rating 5.0 out of 5
Reviewed October 26, 2025
Let me start by saying that even with our one major issue, we will gladly stay at this Hampton Inn again when we are in the area. The Great: A. Manager Sabrina could not have been nicer, or more helpful. Truly wonderful. B. The queen room she assigned to us was large, clean, and above expectations. C. Room was quiet. AC worked fine and the TV selection was also good. D. Friendly staff throughout the hotel. The Not-So-Good Not world-ending, but the breakfast was pretty horrible. Not the fault of the very nice lady servicing the breakfast area. She never quit working filling items the entire time we were in the breakfast area. But truly, this was probably the worst breakfast we've had at a Hilton property in many years. A. Scrambled eggs were cold. Not just warm. Cold. Nearly Inedible. B. The milk gravy for the sausage and biscuits was as runny as 2% milk. Like they left the flour out of the mix. Inedible. I've never seen gravy that thin anywhere. Ever. C. While the waffle machine was dangerously hot, for some reason the waffles (large or small ones) were cold when you pulled them out. Not 5 minutes later. 30 seconds later. It's like they defied the laws of temperature science. Definitely not edible. D. The sausage was fairly warm, but it had the texture of shoe leather. Not good. To be fair, there was plenty of juice, toast, and good bagels. But if you were looking for a hot breakfast to get you started, this was not it. Now, I'll be the first to acknowledge that sometimes things happen. And today may have been an anomaly. I do hope it was because our breakfast was the only thing that kept this from being a perfect stay. Again, all the good things far outweighed the breakfast, but I do hope the hotel will work to fix the (easily?) fixable things in the breakfast area. Either way, we will stay at this Hampton Inn in the future due to all the other good things.

"Broken Promises, Broken AC, Zero Accountability”"
TripAdvisor user rating 1.0 out of 5
Reviewed September 15, 2025
If you’re thinking about staying here, I’d suggest looking elsewhere. This hotel completely dropped the ball on multiple levels. First, I was promised a complimentary queen suite upgrade when I booked. They said it would be noted on my account and all I had to do was ask when I checked in. When I arrived at 9 PM, tired from traveling, I was told there was no upgrade because the hotel was fully booked for a wedding. So much for keeping promises. Then I got to my room on the 4th floor and it was a sweltering 76° because the air conditioning was broken. When I complained, the front desk clerk actually had to come up to my room because she didn’t believe me. She ended up calling maintenance and didn’t leave until 11 PM after replacing the unit. My daughter's and I had to be up by 7 AM for a full day of volleyball, (I, coach) so basically we got little rest thanks to their incompetence. To make matters worse, when I followed up with the manager (Sabrina) about compensation, she offered me a laughable 2,000 Hilton points. That’s about $8–$12 in value. Absolutely insulting considering the higher rate I paid and the nightmare of a stay. This is not the level of service, comfort, or professionalism you should expect from a Hilton property. Between broken promises, faulty rooms, and zero accountability from management, I would NOT recommend staying here. Save yourself the hassle and book somewhere else.

"GREAT HOTEL EXPERIENCE"
TripAdvisor user rating 5.0 out of 5
Reviewed June 25, 2025
Our 3 nights were perfect! The hotel is extremely clean, linens in good condition and staff went out of their way to be helpful. The beds were very comfortable, and we're fussy about beds. The breakfast buffet was very good, nice variety and they had abundant coffee available in the lobby area all day and night. We saw remains of freshly baked cookies but were never there at the right time to enjoy any, but they certainly did smell good. The hotel was filled with soccer teams from adjoining states. We saw these well-behaved young people and never heard them while in our room. The hotel was extremely quiet.
