"The best place on Fremont Street"

This is a very well maintained and clean hotel/casino. We have stayed here many times. We had a nice clean room in the Rush Tower. If you want some quiet, ask that your room doesn’t face Fremont Street due to the Fremont Street bands. My only real complaint with this room is they don’t provide electrical outlets of any kind to charge your phones or electronic devices. Only 1 outlet was in the bathroom. Hey Golden Nugget this is 2020, need to address lack of charging options.

"Not Terrible, but You’ll Regret Staying Here!"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5
Reviewed February 15, 2020 NEW
I’m rating this hotel 3/5 because there is nothing overtly wrong with this hotel; however, if someone told me they were going to Las Vegas and wondered whether they should stay at the Golden Nugget, I would tell them that they unquestionably should NOT stay there. LOCATION: This hotel is a solid 20 minutes away from the strip where all of the activities you will want to do are (e.g., shop, see shows, gambles), so every night, we spent about 20 minutes each way (as well as the cost of the transportation) traveling to and from the strip, so fairly quickly, we realized we should have just stayed at the strip. Not surprisingly (see below re: customer service), there would be fees for leaving early even though we had already paid for two nights. CUSTOMER SERVICE: I have never stayed in a hotel where there has been less concern for making guests happy. 1.) We came here to celebrate my boyfriend competing chemotherapy. However, because he’s immunosuppressed, we had to be very careful on the trip. I called the hotel in advance and said, “I am sure your housekeeping staff does an excellent job cleaning the rooms, but my boyfriend just completed chemotherapy and is immunosuppressed, so I was wondering if there is anyway you can ask the housekeeping staff to give the room an extra deep clean.” They responded that the rooms are assigned at check-in, so there is no way to know which room we’ll get in advance to alert housekeeping to this. I said that’s fine, and I understood, and it would have indeed been fine if the room had not been pretty gross. I brought Cavi Wipes to wipe down and disinfect the room myself, and the wipe was brown after wiping down all of the surfaces, which was pretty disconcerting. 2.) We are Landry’s members, and they did not ask us for our member number or alert us when we booked the room that we should/could be booking through the Landry’s website. I called the Concierge and asked if we could still get the discount. She told me the manager had the ability override the system and apply the discount at checkout. When we checked out, the manager claimed this was impossible. Not sure who was right. In general, the demeanor of everyone we spoke with was not very helpful or geared towards making guests happy. CLEANLINESS: While our room appeared clean and tidy, as discussed above, when I wiped it down with a sanitizing and disinfecting wipe, a layer of brown came off of all of the hard surfaces. AMENITIES: Water: THIS HOTEL HAS NOWHERE TO GET DRINKING WATER!!! They give you 2 water bottles on Day 1, and then, that’s it. No more water for you. I have never stayed at a hotel where there is no where to even fill up a water bottle, so I called concierge and said that I knew there was an ice machine on every floor, but I asked if there was anywhere we could fill up a water bottle. They said, “No. The only option is to purchase water bottles.” Water is a basic necessity, and they won’t provide it, so bring your own water bottle or Brita filter! Pools: One of the primary reasons we picked this hotel was because of my love of sharks, and the fact that the pool surrounds the shark tank. However, despite reading recent Trip advisor reviews saying the main pool was heated and warm enough to go in despite it being February, this was not the case. The main pool was FREEZING. The upper pool was a much nicer temperature and is definitely heated, so I’d recommend that one. However, they tried to charge us $25.00 to use a chair on Friday when it was still pretty chilly out. If it was summer and hot or this was the strip, then, fine, but we weren’t about to pay $25.00 per chair at the Golden Nugget when it was February and too cold to lay out anyways. Jacuzzi: We stayed Tuesday through Saturday. On Wednesday and Thursday, the jacuzzi was scalding hot. My family actually makes fun of me because I like excessively hot showers, and I couldn’t even enter the jacuzzi. 2 other guests on Wednesday and 1 other guest on Thursday also commented on how the jacuzzi was far too hot to go in, and everyone there only had their feet in at most. It was so hot I suspect it may have been dangerously hot. Only on Friday were we finally able to use the jacuzzi. Time Share Pushers: On Day 1, when we were walking into the hotel with all of our luggage, we were immediately bombarded by people offering us free brunch, etc., which, of course, turned out not to be free because they wanted to push a timeshare presentation on us. We clearly said no, and they continued to be aggressive. The worst part was every damned day we had to walk by these people, and they continued to bother us every single day. I would STRONGLY discourage anyone trying to go on a relaxing vacation from staying at the Golden Nugget for this reason alone. Please stay somewhere else on the strip! You’ll regret staying at the Golden Nugget on top of being very thirsty! From what we could tell based on customer service, the resort could really care less if you stay there anyways!

"If you want Poor Customer Service, Golden Nugget is the place to stay !!"

From the beginning of my stay here until the end, it was pretty much the same story. No one seemed to Care that I was their Guest. I arrived at Valet after a 9 hour drive and no one offered to Help with my multiple heavy bags, even though it was clear it was a struggle to move them all. Then at check in, the clerk was non attentive and seemed lost in his own thoughts. The room was very nice though on the lowest floor. But in the middle of the night, a unknown humming/ Buzzing sound started and stopped intermittently, so I want able to get much sleep at all. This want supposed to happen in the Supposedly quiet Rush Tower! The next morning I called the front desk to request a room change and they said to call back after 11 and they would see what they could do. I said couldnt they help me now asi didn’t want to wait around to see if I could get a different room or not? She put me on hold and said she would check. 10 minutes later and still on hold, I gave up and walked down to the front desk myself. They told me Yes I would get a new room and they would text me when it was ready no later than 1 PM. So why couldn’t the lady in the phone have told me that?? So 1PM came and went, with No text, so back to the front desk I went. Yes my new room was ready, but no one bothered to let me know. So now on a much higher floor, everything looked good until late at night again that buzzing and humming sound started again! Another lost night of sleep! I asked about it again when I checked out and no one seemed to know anything about it, nor did they seem to care or say they were sorry about the problem. After my experience at the GN, they then sent me an email asking me how my stay was. I responded to them frankly as I have written here, but to this day, 2 weeks later, there has been No Response from them of any kind. So as I said in the Title, if you want to stay at a place that could Care Less about it’s guests, I think the Golden Nugget is the place for you. I certainly will never stay here again, even if the rooms were free and will let my other friends know as well.
