"One of the worst hotels I have stayed at... "

Where do I start... First off I picked one of the nicer suites to stay in. A few days before I arrived I called the hotel to tell them my flight arrived at 9am and asked if there was an early check in. She said no but if I paid $30 I would have priority check in which might. I agreed and than she said never you are coming in on the weekend and you can’t priority check in on the weekend. I rented a limo and sight instead until 1:30. When I arrived the front desk said you can’t check in yet. Check ins at 3pm. If you want you to pay $30 you might get in at 2:55 but it’s not worth it. We went to get something to eat. At 4:30 we arrived back we were told our suite was not cleaned from the previous guest and that they were not sure when it was going to be ready. That the hotel rooms take an hour to clean. Obviously a lie, after 15 minutes of going back and forth it was clean. Get to the room and find the main tv in the living room is broke. I was told that half of the TVs in the hotel are broke because they had a surge that when through the hotel a week ago and that most people don’t watch tv Vegas anyways. Really? Great answer!!! I ordered room service while I got ready for a show. I was told it would arrive in 30-40 minutes. An 1 hr and fifteen minutes later as we are walking out the door room service was trying to deliver the food. I told him we are leaving and he says I will just put it on the table for when you get back. I told him I prefer to not eat food that has been sitting out for 4 hours while I go to a show and he looked at me like I was crazy and said he was doing the best that he could. Never again will I ever come to this horrible hotel.

Stayed 3 days. room was clean. friendly staff. Right on Fremont Street. Buffet didn't open till Wednesday and was a bit expensive for breakfast and dinner. Paradise buffet is a better deal. Won a little money on the slots the 1st day. Loved the pool with a fish tank in it. Would stay again.

My wife and I visit Vegas every two years or so and our choice of stay has always been the Golden Nugget. Perhaps, it has something to do with the downright friendly and professional staff, or perhaps it’s the above-par service provided. Our stay was from Sep 25-30 and we booked a Gold Tower Parlor Suite through our host. The room (803) was excellent as usual with no issues and the room’s view was south facing the Strip (several miles away) along Casino Center Blvd. Pluses a) We ate at the Claim Jumper on our first morning for a late breakfast and the food / service was expeditious and impeccable. I had a Denver omelet and my wife had eggs benedict. b) Afterwards, we ate breakfast at the Buffet on Thursday and Friday. On Thursday, the waitress and service were lacking; and conversely on Friday, the waiter “Steve” and service were exemplary. Our tips reflected those services provided. c) We saw the Jefferson Starship concert (Golden Nugget Theater) on Friday night and I was impressed that 82yo David Freiberg can still belt out the vocals. It was a good 1 ½ hours of great music. The only drawback was the seating was narrow and if two big guys were seated together, they would be very good friends. d) I gambled exclusively on the craps tables and the dealers were professional and provided help if I forgot a bet. My wife played the slots. We were never in need of a drink as the waitresses came by every 5-10 minutes. Minuses a) Upon our check-in at the VIP counter, I found the receptionist to be a bit snooty and short with questions; e.g., internet in the room and a FEDEX package that was sent to me via Golden Nugget. I wrote it off that she was having a bad day. b) The bell service is in need of additional personnel. It took about 30-minutes to deliver our luggage to our room and on check-out, it took another 30-minutes for the bellman to come to our room. c) On Saturday night, there was a concert at the corner of Casino Central and Carson Avenue. I retired early that night (about 10:30pm) and the noise from the concert was overbearing. Fortunately, there were as set of earplugs on the nightstand. I know there’s not much that could mitigate the noise and it is Vegas. The concert ended around midnight – 1:00am.

"Nicer than I expected"

Given that it is on Fremont Street I expected it to look less well kept. It was smokier than some of the higher end Strip casinos, but not by much and it made up for it with the great attitude of the people who worked there, the classic old-school casino vibe and the inexpensive gaming. We will definitely be back.

"End of tour ovenight stop"

We came off a 2 week tour and stopped one night. It's certainly not a hotel I would pick for myself. I did not like the fact that gamblers smoke in the hotel. The swimming pool is way too public. I observed one "guest" being man-handled off-site by security.
