"Unacceptable for a Hilton Doubletree property"

This was the worst stay we’ve ever had at a Doubletree hotel. We arrived at 2:30 pm hoping for early check-in if our room was ready. It wasn’t so we asked if we could get an estimate of when it would be. The response the front desk got was “between now and check-in.” Okay? That’s not helpful…We were on a time constraint so we opted to downgrade our room to one that was ready. My husband took a shower and the shower gel was completely empty. It took over 20 minutes for us to receive a refill. Next, the toilet was flushed once and completely overfilled and flooded the entire bathroom floor and the water seeped into our bedroom. We immediately brought up this problem to the front desk and was promised it would be dealt with ASAP. We had to leave and trusted this would be taken care. When we returned, we requested to be changed to a different room. Instead of being apologetic for the inconvenience, the front desk made us feel like we were the ones to blame for the flooding as apparently it leaked into the room below. It seems that the front desk and housekeeping has a disconnect because the flood was not addressed immediately as was promised to us. Although her intention may have been to investiagate what had happened, her customer service left us with a bad taste after our encounter. We got switched to a double room and boy is it due for a refresh; we noticed the couch was very worn out as there were cracks all over the cushion and the carpet was coming loose from the floor. We expected better quality and customer service from staying at a Doubletree hotel and this experience has made us wary of ever booking at Doubletree again.

"Park at your own risk!!! Save your money!"

I am shocked that Hilton would want to be associated with this location!!! The parking structure is not suitable for their guests with SUVs. My car was damaged trying to squeeze out of the parking structure. They have the nerve to charge $33/night for parking yet it is not secure. The gate doesn't work and you only need your key to get into your room. The pool area and back door to the lobby are all free for all. They charge $12 for 2 oz of dipping dots and the rooms need to be renovated. The carpet was trashed and the room smelled like mildew. I wonder if that was why my son kept coughing while in the room. I will never stay here again. Save your money!!! The lower price compared to all the other Hilton locations explains why.

"Spare yourself the disappointment"
TripAdvisor user rating 1.0 out of 5

I am a Hilton Honors member and have stayed at three other Hilton hotels in San Diego over the past 12 months. This one is by far the worst Hilton property I have ever experienced. I stayed in this dump for two nights and hated it. Go somewhere else and spare yourself the disappointment. Room condition was terrible with dirty, stained carpet (and it was worn down to the backing around the bed), cabinet doors falling off, dirty bathroom, torn shower curtain, noisy exhaust fan, crusty looking shower tile, hard pillows, TV remote with missing buttons, and the worst parking garage (at $33 per night). If you have a large car, pickup, or full-size SUV, forget even trying to pull in. You'll damage your fenders trying to maneuver up and down the ramps that seem to have been designed by someone who owns a VW Bug. Oversized vehicle parking is minimal and hidden behind the garage, where nobody can see your vehicle. Food options in the hotel are limited and not very good. The good news is you don't need an alarm clock because the freeway noise will do that for you starting at 4:00 AM daily. I stayed at the Double Tree in Del Mar 4 weeks earlier (at a lower cost), and it was ten times the quality of this place, with good food in the hotel. Hilton needs to dump this property or rebuild it from the ground up.

"Roll the dice"

You’ll see mixed reviews at this place because the rooms vary in condition. We got a 3rd floor room and it was horrible; Mismatched tile shower walls. dirty dingy floors, everything was old and the a/c didn’t work. I called the office and requested a new room. They pushed back but finally approved. New room didn’t blow me away but it was definitely nicer and cleaner. You’re rolling the dice at this one, I’d pick something else unless you’re looking for a good deal.

"4.8 stars if I could"

Rooms are nice. Parking is easy. Location is quiet. Really the only things to watch out for which keeps it from beingg a 5 star is that the continental breakfast is not free at this location. No biggie but just a heads up. Also a small bag of dipping dots was $12 and I mean it’s small. The same bag at petco park (which we all know stadium food is expensive) i believe was 10$. How is your lobby snacks more than a baseball stadium lol. But overall as long as you know breakfast isn’t free and you plan ahead to not buy snacks on site you will be more than happy with the stay. Pool area was super nice. Overall no real complaints.
