"Good location but disappointed in the standard"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5

The hotel is situated on W40th street just two blocks below the main pedestrian zone at Times Square. That makes it quite convenient for easy access to many attractions. You can walk within 5 minutes to Macy’s on 35th street, or it’s about 15 minutes up to Central Park at 59th street. There are many restaurants around the area and easy access to the broadway theatres. The room was very quiet as the hotel is between broadway, and 6th, which are both very noisy with traffic - especially the siren traffic! The bed was very comfortable and the room was kept quite clean. The check in staff were very friendly and helpful. However, despite these positive points we were in fact disappointed with our choice of hotel. When you enter the hotel you have a pleasant check in desk area. However there is virtually no breakfast service. There is a light cafe at the back of the check in zone but only offers light coffee, tea, or pastries. At night it’s worse. The “ bar” is a selection of beers, wines, and some spirits, laid out on the counter and these are quickly removed by 10.00pm, assuming it opens at all! Sometimes it doesn’t open! Therefore the evening atmosphere is not exciting. The elevators are pretty old and slow, and the hotel elevator zones at each floor badly need a makeover. The bathroom in the bedroom was very old basic standard with mainly painted walls. There was mould on the shower floor between the tiles and in the corner of the shower. No shower gel supplied - only a bar of soap, some shampoo and conditioner. By contrast we visited our usual hotel a few blocks up and realised we had made a big mistake this time. The other hotel is actually cheaper in price but has a vibrant entrance area, bar, restaurant and is much more exciting. So, next time we will not come to this hotel knowing that the other luxury standard hotel is cheaper.

"Great location and fabulous staff"

We have stayed near Times Square for many years and this was the most convenient and pleasant. Easy valet, easy to get to the elevator, easy to get to places! Rooms are small but we weren't in there a lot so did not bother us. And the absolute best were the people who worked there! Friendly, helpful and extremely professional. Thank you so much!

"Good location, super helpful staff, quiet and cozy"

Stayed here as part of a run group for the NYC Marathon. Staff was always helpful, quick and willing to go that little extra. On marathon day they got a ton of extra newspapers with the run info and even the next day with the results. In the lobby they loaded up on water bottles and fruit for the runners too. Went out of their way to get us some spoons and flag a cab for us half way down the street. Rooms were spacious, great washrooms and quiet. Only negative to our room was it got no sun, so it was very hard to tell what time of day it was without a clock. Overall we were very please and enjoyed our stay

"Excellent Midtown Choice"

Fairly updated hotel smack in heart of Manhattan. Front-of-the-house staff members are personable and helpful. The in-house food offerings are weak (e.g., pre-made, cheesy sandwiches) but off-site options abound. Elevators could be slow.

"Great location for the Thanksgiving Day Parade but not great hotel"
TripAdvisor user rating 2 out of 5
Reviewed December 04, 2019 NEW
We stayed here over Thanksgiving because the map said it was very close to the parade and it was. For that reason, it fit our purposes but I would not stay here again. The room was very small and not very clean. When we checked in there was hair on the bathroom floor and mold in the shower. The beds were ok but double beds and the blanket that was between the two sheets looked not the cleanest. There was also some construction going on in the building behind us so trash trucks ran all night compacting trash. The staff as pleasant and helpful and Thanksgiving dinner at the sister Residence Inn around the corner was good, wish we had stayed there. For $1600 for 4 nights we could have done better espically as Gold status Marriott members, as far as I could see status did not get us any perks this time. So for one night to get close to the parade go for it otherwise better hotels in NYC for the same price.
