"Disappointed— third visit in several decades"

The first time I ate here was in 1963, the second time was in 1983, and yesterday was the third time. The service was severely lacking, from the disinterested woman who led us to our table to the lackluster service throughout our meal. My husband had the shrimp and grits, and it was a slightly paltry serving. He said it was good. I had the fried fish with crab slaw. The fish was way too salty, and I could not discern any actual crab in this slaw. The tartar sauce was excellent. We split a house salad, which was good. House wine prices reasonable. The restaurant needs some work as far as repainting, chipped, baseboards, etc.

"Disappointed. So many other good places we could have picked over this."

A friend recommended this restaurant for us for a couples weekend. We should have trusted our gut and just left after we waited forever for the waiter to bring us menus, water and eventually our cocktails. Very unorganized. Understaffed. Drinks came 30 min later and watered down. Unremarkable. Caesar table side was good I will say. Fish plates decent but not remarkable either. Always a gamble.

We went for the jazz brunch. Huge selection of food to choose from, too much to eat. Lovely setting in the shaded courtyard with a trio playing some jazz tunes. Our server, Jerry, helped to make this a memorable visit.

Absolutely beautiful courtyard and the service was amazing. We were a group of 5 that ate dinner here and each got something else on the menu....The food was prepared correctly and the presentation was as superb as it was delicious. Reservations are required but some walk-in traffic is possible. Enjoy
