"Go and do NOT listen to local snobs."

I'm a teacher, and I was taking some adult chaperones and nine high school students to the French Quarter during a 4-day trip to Baton Rouge. COTS reached out to us via a restaurant website and said they could accommodate the group and sent us a menu, so I made reservations. I had been following a Facebook group called New Orleans Foodies for about a year, and nearly all the reviews from locals bashed COTS repeatedly. I'm born and raised in Louisiana and have lived here 50 years and spent about 10 in Baton Rouge, and I know good foods versus tourist traps. COTS was all a great experience, no matter what the local food snobs said. The loudest food snobs in South LA are the ones who really only want to get drunk and be obnoxious, and I knew better than to listen to them. At first, our waitress said they wouldn't be able to split the check, so I politely asked the manager if we could because I had students, and he not only said we could do anything we liked, he also replaced the waitress! Had no idea that would happen, but he took care of us like we were executives or something. All the food was great, the atmosphere was unbeatable, and the service was excellent and pretty fast for such a large group and lots of other diners.

"The Bright Spot in our New Orleans dining experiences"

The bright spot in our dining . We had several mediocre (but pricey) meals in NOLA, but this one was first-rate. Attentive staff, pleasant environment, and really good food.

We went for the Saturday Jazz brunch and sat outside where the band was playing. This is a very nice historical restaurant with good menu options.

"Disappointing"

We visited yesterday for the jazz buffet brunch which states finishes at 3. We booked for 230 as had riverboat cruise to make our our way over from. We were seated with limited crockery and had to grab off other laid tables. The band actually finished up at 245 and made a dash for the buffet. There wasn’t much left on the buffet and the main meat was not available - looked like it had been cleared down for some time. This is a lovely setting in a sunny afternoon. Some of the staff were lovely. Others were clearly there for the performance rather than service. I had really been looking forward to this. We wanted the opportunity to try difference foods and this was lacking. Not really want it says on the tin!

"Not NOLA Finest Sunday Jazz Brunch!"
TripAdvisor user rating 1.0 out of 5
Reviewed February 09, 2026 NEW
I rarely write a bad review, but this one was the exception. We did the Sunday Jazz brunch, which runs from morning to 3:00 PM. Our reservation was at 2:30 PM, I would suggest not booking anything past the noon time frame (or suggest booking a better brunch option altogether) if you don't want to be rushed out the door as they roll up shop. Omelette station cook was surely when we ask for omelettes before shortly after arriving for our reservation, as he said he was already shut down for the day. Wait staff was rushing for us to eat as they started rolling up everything before the 3 PM shut down, besides the overbilling for things we did not order. Jazz stop playing at about 2:30 when we arrived. Management seemed like they could care less about one's "dining experience" and "told us we should read the room" won't be shadowing their door on any future trips to NOLA. Food was mediocre at best. There are way better options to spend $100+ for 2 people in NOLA for brunch!
