"Checkout ruined the weekend"

The Chateau has so many excellent attributes. The room-5 star. The atmosphere-5 star. The Spa-5 star. The food-4.5 star. The view-5 star. Well, you get the point. However, on my most recent visit (I’ve stayed here at least 6 times), the checkout procedure was an absolute nightmare and left a really bad taste in my mouth. There was a very large error on my bill. I explained to the young lady what the mistake was. She spoke broken English and was hard to understand. Another young lady, with better English, but still hard to understand, came over to help. I finally asked to speak to the manager, who I had seen walk by twice while this was going on. She immediately called him. I waited, and waited, and waited - and finally asked her to call again. She did. I waited, and waited, and finally gave up after 20 minutes and left. I’ll sort it out with my credit card company. The 2 young ladies on duty, tried to help, but obviously they did not have the authority to solve the problem. My issue is that there was nobody willing or able to solve what would have been an easy issue. Chateau, you are better than this, and a resort with your reputation can not afford to allow this to happen.

"What a beautiful experience!"

From the moment I arrived, winding through the Ozark Mountains and turning into the beautiful manicured gardens, I was enchanted. Surely I could could procure a tiny piece of heaven here! But hey, this is 2019, right? Cell phones ringing, dodging cars whether on foot or by auto, slamming to a halt to allow a cell phone zombi to pass. That is the world I wanted to temporarily leave behind. Maybe, just maybe, the world would shift and allow me to be the recipient of excellent full on attention eagerly directed my way. "Welcome to Chateau on the Lake! So glad to have you stay with us! Let us know if you need anything!" Hmmm, as I walked through the beautiful doors, my dreams materialized. The quiet meandering of the water in the background, elegant decor, tastefully attired staff who quietly, friendly and quickly squared me away and off to my new home for a week did I go. My room was comfortable and comfy. It was my oasis and refuge after working and shopping in Branson. Walks around the grounds were enjoyable. Mamma duck and babies a delight. Options to send kiddos to the downstairs movie or playroom or pool were at your fingertips. Their own marina was only a very short shuttle away. I highly, highly reccomend this resort for excellent friendly service and beautiful views. I am now booked again for a pleasure trip.

"Five-star resort near Branson"

Everything about this resort is five-star. Outside, the expansive grounds are meticulously manicured creating plenty of room to walk or even run. The crystal clear pool is heated and the hot tub is close by in the pool area, You can order snacks, lunch and drinks poolside. There are two tennis courts. There is a nice play set for the little kids. There is plenty of outdoor seating other than at the pool. Inside is equally immaculate and well maintained. There is a full range of dining options. The Sweet Shop serves up delicious pastries, cinnamon rolls and ice cream creations. The food at The Grille is better than at any hotel we have visited. The Dining Room Manager and team provide world class service and food. We had a spacious suite on third floor with a wonderful view of the pool and Table Rock Lake just beyond. There is a gym, an indoor pool and a spa with a full range of services. There is plenty of convenient free parking. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. This is such a well run property. Our one suggestion: since you brag about being so pet friendly, how about some outdoor dining for Fido too? We never leave our dog alone in a hotel room so that leaves room service or going to town (restaurants at Branson Landing are pet friendly) as our only options. Even a limited time like 4 to 6 pm would be great. Doggie dining will bring us back in a second. Thank you for your consideration.

"Hotel outside appearance and inside room decor"
TripAdvisor user rating 4 out of 5

This is a beautiful elegant hotel with an excellent staff. However, the green paint is now peeling off the roof (top roof) exposing some of the silver base material of the metal roof panels and the room decor (and hallways) need to be updated. From a distance, the peeling paint on the roof panels is not as noticeable, but when you drive up to the front of the building, it is very visible and looks bad. The inside room decor looks like the same decor (furniture and carpet) in the rooms and hallway since the hotel was built. The outside grounds of the hotel also need updating and painted which includes a small gazebo between two outside parking lots and some handrail outside of the hotel. Overall, staying at this hotel is a very nice experience. It is an elegant, beautiful hotel in a very nice setting. You pay a little more to stay in an elegant hotel that gives you an experience you'll never forget. And it's well worth it even with the things mentioned that need updating. We stay at this hotel once to twice each year when we come to Branson, MO and love it every time.

"Disappointed and Exhausted"

We planned to come to the Branson area for a week. We were driving from South Louisiana and were going to stay in Little Rock but made great timing so we called the resort we had reservations at but they didn’t have our room available for a pre-night. I took to the Internet from the car and stumbled upon this place. I trusted AAA’s 4 star review, but after I arrived I am assuming they either didn’t base their review on the room and only walked through the beautiful lobby or they reviewed the place in 1976. As we walked into the lobby I was mesmerized but the gorgeous waterfalls, the koi pond and the overall feel. My kids were given a cookie by a costumed teddy bear. The glass elevators gave it a nice feel. As a travel agent, I pay attention to details at resorts so that I can bring that information back to my clients. When we got off of the 3rd floor elevator we could see the courtyard below. It’s beautiful. We found our room and we were happy it was at the end of the hall because we were exhausted after a long drive and no sleep the night before. This is where I reached the height of my disappointment. The prices of these rooms are similar to that of a large hotel luxury resort or a Disney World Resort property. The room smelled so moldy and musty. My oldest daughter and I were already so car sick, it definitely was not something we needed. The red carpet and 80s bedspread leave a lot to be desired. These rooms need serious updating. The small window in the corner or the room was not something I could take a photo from, nor would I consider this a room with a view because they are screened. I couldn’t not believe the amount I paid for this room. The food in the cafe was good for hotel restaurant food. Went to bed at 10pm and woke up twice an hour. The walls are so thin in this place that we heard the neighbors talking all night. The room above us sounded as though they were moving furniture until 2am. The AC is sub par as we have had it on 60 degrees and my home ac is cooler at 74. The beds are horrible. For $300 per night, I would at least expect a pillow top. We noticed a few pillows in our room were down. We cannot have down due to horrible allergies. They told us that none of the pillows were down and all were foam yet I could clearly feel the feathers through the pillow on 3 of the 6-7 pillows in our room. It is now 4am. I decided to just get up because a) I’m hot. B) by back is killing me from this vintage spring mattress, c) I can hear everyone around me who obviously don’t sleep, d) I can’t breathe because my allergies have gone crazy. I am just in awe that this is ranked 4 diamond AAA. They need to re-evaluate this property. I rarely give bad reviews and will typically just skip writing a review if I have something. As to say , but I had really high hopes for the amount of money I paid to stay here. My first day of vacation will not be great due to the fact that I haven’t slept a wink. Choose a newer resort until this one is updated.
