It is really nice to be at home and have such great facilities and quality of food at our local establishments. Staff was beyond excellent and the Chateau is always a beautiful and well kept gem. "New Years Eve Catastrophe"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5
Reviewed January 14, 2020 NEW
My wife an I decided to spend our New Years eve at Chateau on the Lake even though it is very close to where we live. We decided to make a mini vacation so we purchased the full New Years Eve package including dinner, hotel stay, and the New Year festivities. We stayed an extra night prior to New Years to add to the mini vacation. The check in went well and we enjoyed the first evening and night stay. The next morning the issues began. We got up early and decided to have a cup of coffee in room. We tried starting the coffee put but ended up not having any power in part of the room. We contacted maintenance but they never fixed the electrical issue. We ended up moving the coffee maker to the bathroom where we were able to use it. The evening of New Years around 4pm, the power in the entire lower level ended up going out. We were in the restaurant on site enjoying some snacks prior to going to the cocktail hour for to kick off the New Years party. We enjoyed the time but it soon became very apparent that power would not be restored anytime soon. The staff began the cocktail hour with temporary lighting consisting of work lights placed in the ballroom. The cocktail hour started about 30 minutes late. We left the cocktail hour to go into the main ballroom and it extremely dark with just small candles on the table. The staff had a hard time locating our reservation since the only thing listing the table number was a note on the outside of a white letter envelope that was given to us the day before. We did what several did, a emptied the contents of the envelope and put on the arm bands included thinking that was what we needed. NO instructions where include nor was there any instruction on where any of the events where going to be held. Dinner was served in the dark and several of the guests at our table had asked the waitress what was the dinner, since nothing was mentioned about what was being served. The dinner ended up being a very small filet, topped with crab meat, along with a couple of grill shrimp, asparagus and a potato dish. The steak was well done and several at the table didn't shell fish so they removed it from the steaks. The potato dish was charred on the top instead of browned. We picked through the dinner and was glad we had purchased the snack earlier. The staff began picking up plates and then the waitress brought the dinner rolls. None of us ate them at that point since the dinner was over and some of us had already finished desert. The entertainment started about an hour late as they were still trying to run temporary power for the music and lights. They started several times but the temporary power had failed. The band finally was able to get things rolling and did an awesome job considering the circumstances. The lights finally came back on towards the end of the evening and the end of the event went well including the fireworks show, balloon drop and music. The bar set up in the ballroom wash a cash bar only, however there was not a working ATM that we could find to get cash out so we ended up not ordering from the bar at all. After the trip was over and we checked out, I decided to send an email to the management of the hotel. Unfortunately we never heard back from them with an apology, acknowledgement or any type of refund or discount for future stays. My recommendations is, if you plan on staying in Branson, stay at another hotel in Branson and treat yourself to some of the fine dinning around town. This hotel is obviously overpriced and has terrible customer service.

"I highly recommend this hotel!"

My reasons: 1. Staff: Absolutely the most professional staff I have yet to encounter. As examples: 1. Leticia Salmon, Head of Housekeeping; and "Sarah" at the front desk. I left my PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS in my room when I left on Janauary 2, 2020. I realized this about an hour into my journey home. I called the Chateau and spoke with Sarah. She immediately expressed her concern and went to work to find Leticia for me. Leticia called me back quickly; immediately started looking for my medications; called me back to report she had them and would mail them out that day, which was Friday, I believe. She did, and I received them today (the following Monday), all in tact and mailed Priority Mail! 2. Jesse Boyd. There was some sort of electrical problem at the hotel on New Year's Eve. The lobby, lounge, and New Year's Eve party room were in the black. Never have I seen such professionalism, and I have worked with attorneys and legal departments for over 23 years! I overheard Jesse Boyd speaking with some staff and saying something to the affect that it was everyone's top priority to see to the needs of the guests -- all questions by staff would be addressed later. He was so busy, but if anyone stopped him to ask about the situation, he was calm and reassuring. Generators were brought in for the band, etc., candles were lit, excellent food and drinks were served with a warm smile, and I did not see anyone who was not having a grand time. At midnight, bagpipes started playing in the lobby and everyone (from kids in pajamas to ladies in evening gowns) poured outside onto the veranda to watch the fireworks! The following day, I saw Mr. Boyd chatting with people like they were his dearest friends, and genuinely making them feel as if they were. 3. The lady tending bar on New Year's Eve! I wish I had her name! My hat is off to her. She was pouring drinks in the lounge by candlelight; doing her best to record the orders (as the computers, of course, were not working. But her laughter, decorum, and friendly calm disposition was catching throughout the room and she kept everyone extremely happy and comfortable. I was so impressed with all of these people. You would have thought they owned the Chateau themselves! They were looking after the place like they owned it! Dining: Fine dining at it's very best. I love the chef's small offering at the beginning of the meal! Beautifully plated, excellently prepared and served by a delightful young man who was so attentive all night -- I think his name was Ralph Matthew. Rooms: Always clean and always what I ask for. I enjoy a "Lake View" room with a balcony, but I have stayed in just about every type (including suites), and I have enjoyed them all. Safety: I travel alone at times, and I feel as safe at the Chateau as I could possibly feel anywhere. I dare say, if something amiss was to happen, the staff would be doing their best to look after their patrons. That is the feeling one gets at the Chateau - the feeling that you are pampered and cared for!
