ZooTampa Florida Resident, Groupon & Other Discount Comparisons

Many visitors look for Tampa Zoo Tickets Florida Residents rates, or a Tampa Zoo Military Discount at the gate, hoping to unlock special pricing with proof of residency or service.

Others search for a Tampa Zoo Groupon deal to shave a little off the total.

Here’s how those options typically compare:

Florida Resident Tickets: These rates may be available on select days but often require showing a valid Florida ID in person. That means waiting in line—and risking blackout dates or limited availability.

Military Discount: Active duty and veterans may qualify for savings, but verification usually happens at the ticket window. During busy weekends or school breaks, that can cut into your zoo time.

Groupon Deals: Offers can pop up occasionally, but they often come with restrictions, limited quantities, or expiration dates that make planning tricky.

The better option? Booking online through Tripster lets you skip the ID checks, gate lines, and fine print.

You’ll secure verified savings instantly, with flexible ticket options and bundle opportunities that help stretch your budget—without crossing your fingers at the entrance.

Is ZooTampa Worth It?

Before you commit, it helps to know if ZooTampa actually delivers on the hype. We dug into Tampa Zoo animal encounters reviews to see if the experiences live up to the ticket price.

What is Included for FREE

Your base ZooTampa ticket already packs in plenty of value before you add anything extra.

Here’s what’s included with standard daytime admission, no upgrades required.

  • One-Day Zoo Admission: Enjoy full access to ZooTampa at Lowry Park for one regular operating day.
  • Wildlife Viewing Experiences: Get up close with amazing animals from around the world throughout the zoo.
  • Africa-Themed Safari Ride: Take a thrilling ride inspired by African wildlife landscapes.
  • General Zoo Access: Explore exhibits, pathways, and habitats included with regular daytime admission.

What Costs Extra

Your ZooTampa ticket covers admission, but a few extras will add to the total. Parking is not included, so plan for an additional fee when you arrive.

Food and drinks are sold throughout the park and aren’t part of admission. Souvenirs also cost extra, and resisting the gift shop is harder than it sounds.

Budgeting for these add-ons helps avoid surprise charges at checkout.

Our Verdict

ZooTampa is a great fit for families, animal lovers, and anyone who enjoys a slower-paced day packed with wildlife moments.

If you’re happy spending a few hours walking shaded paths, watching animals, and riding the Africa-themed safari, the value is there.

It’s less ideal for thrill-seekers expecting nonstop rides, since attractions beyond admission come with extra costs.

Bottom line: Go for the animals and atmosphere, not a coaster-heavy adrenaline fix.

What’s New at ZooTampa in Summer 2026

ZooTampa at Lowry Park is going big for Summer 2026 with its largest expansion ever, turning the spotlight on Florida’s wildlife in a way that feels immersive, hands-on, and very current.

The new additions focus less on spectacle and more on real conservation work you can actually see happening in front of you.

What’s Happening Now (all included with general admission):

  • Florida Waters Expansion: The headline addition for 2026 introduces fully reimagined aquatic habitats focused on native ecosystems. This is the biggest capital investment in the park’s history and now anchors the entire visit.
  • Manatee Rehabilitation Center Upgrade: Walk through a mangrove tunnel and watch rescued manatees at eye level inside the Straz Family Manatee Rescue. This is active rehab, not just display, with real-time care happening throughout the day.
  • River Otter Habitat Expansion: A redesigned riverbank space adds both above-water and underwater viewing, making it easier to catch constant movement and feeding activity.
  • Native Species and Amphibian Zone: A new conservation-focused area highlights vulnerable species with breeding programs, a 10,000-gallon tropical fish tank, and floating jelly displays.
  • Summer Event Series: Seasonal programming continues across the park with themed days like “Wiggle and Waggle” in June and “eXplore the Zany” in July, typically running mid-morning through early afternoon.
  • Manatee Conservation Celebration: Recently launched to kick off the season, this event brings educational talks, themed activities, and conservation messaging into the daily lineup.
  • Stingray Shores Encounters: Guests can feed stingrays during scheduled sessions or upgrade to in-water interactions for a closer experience.
  • Updated Giraffe Encounter: Now open to all ages, making it easier to feed and interact with giraffes throughout the day.
  • New Animal Highlights: A southern white rhino calf named Kelele, plus rescued arrivals like a Florida panther and red foxes, are now part of the daily viewing experience.
  • Daily Access and Hours: The park operates from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, giving a full day to explore the expanded Lowry Park Zoo layout.

This summer focuses on bigger habitats, more access, and stronger conservation storytelling, all included with general admission.

Whether you are searching for Tampa Zoo tickets discount options, comparing Tampa Zoo discounts, or locking in Tampa Zoo discount tickets, the value comes from how much is built into one visit.

ZooTampa at Lowry Park continues to deliver a full-day experience without requiring add-ons or complicated planning.

If you currently have a Florida Aquarium membership, can you get a discount on a membership for ZooTampa? What about a Florida residence membership or Senior discount on ZooTampa membership?

Hello Fannan Family! The AZA Reciprocal Admissions Program only applies to single-day tickets. Your Florida Aquarium membership grants 50% off single-day admission tickets to ZooTampa. Additionally, at this time, ZooTampa is not offering discounts on their memberships. Thanks for reading!

Hello, I would like to know if you offer Senior prices for the year membership to the zoo and please tell me what that cost is for the year and also for a day pass. How many Grandchildren can I bring under my senior cost?

Thank you,
Lisa

Hello Lisa, there doesn’t appear to be a discount for seniors on the yearly memberships. Seniors can enjoy $2 off tickets, but the discount doesn’t apply to anyone else in the group. For an even better deal, you can save $4 on day admission adult tickets through Tripster and $3 on child tickets. Yearly membership cost varies based on how many members you include. Thanks for commenting!
