About the Book of Mormon Musical

Can’t wait to embark on the musical avenue adventure of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? Head to the Eugene O’Neill Theatre to witness this spectacle of sarcasm that garnered nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Created from the devious minds of Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez, the New York Times called the Book of Mormon tickets the “gateway to a newborn, old-fashioned, pleasure-giving musical.”

The original production premiered on March 24, 2011, and was choreographed by Casey Nicholaw and co-directed by Nicholaw and Parker. Josh Gad would play Elder Cunningham and Andrew Rannells played Elder Price.

The tone-deaf antics of these missionaries in Africa were enhanced by outrageous numbers that paid homage to classic musicals such as The King and I and 42nd Street. Laugh out loud, funny with a dash of heart. It’s no wonder Book of Mormon would go on to become one of the most successful musicals of all time.

Insider Book of Mormon Tips

Think you are ready to say ‘hello’ to the Book of Mormon? Before jamming out to the words from the Testament, there’s some tea we need to spill. The Book of Mormon runs for approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes with one 15-minute intermission.

Due to the explicit language and themes of the play, this production is recommended for guests 16 and older. Children under the age of 4 will not be allowed in the theater.

Theater doors open 45 minutes before the show, and we suggest arriving at the theater at least 30 minutes before the curtain call to find your seat.

What to Bring

Wondering what you need to bring along for your magnificent Mormon experience? Please leave cameras at home as absolutely no photography and video is allowed in the theater. While there is no dress code for Book of Mormon, please note that the theater is kept quite cool, so we recommend bringing along a sweater.
