Located in historic Grant Park, just minutes from downtown Atlanta.
Plan to spend about 2–3 hours to see most of the exhibits and experiences.
Many animals are more active in the morning, especially during warmer weather. Arriving near opening can help you beat crowds and heat.
Multiple food and beverage options are available throughout the zoo, including quick service cafés and kiosks.
Some activities, including the train ride, carousel, and ropes course, require an additional fee.
Children under age 12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
You may bring outside food and drinks into the zoo. However, glass containers, alcoholic beverages, straws, and lids are prohibited.

Nice zoo, I liked that there are many places to view the same exhibit. Cool reptile house and bird house. Nice play area for kids to burn off extra energy inside as well

"DO NOT VISIT THIS ZOO IN WINTER!!!"

We visited on Sunday 18th January and had the most disappointing experience. Booked tickets on the website in the morning before we left for the zoo, and there was nothing mentioned on their site about a lack of animals being out (and paid the standard full price for the day) Although we did see some animals, all the main ones you would want to see at a zoo were not there, with big signs in the enclosures saying "animals not on display" We kept meeting people while walking around asking each other if there are any animals to see! I'm aware that when it's too cold animals may have to be taken somewhere else to stay warm, but this should really be mentioned as a big warning when booking tickets online, and the price should be at least half price during this period as we (and others we met) were ripped off. We never would have booked tickets if we'd known we wouldn't see gorilla, orangutan, giraffe, rhino! (We did at least see 1 tiger, 1 elephant, 2 otter, 3 zebra, 3 lion and a red panda and the petting zoo was fun with very cute goats and sheep you could stroke and brush) And all the food places were also closed and water fountains didn't work! We did see a small sign by the entry booth saying that not all animals would be on display but it was far too late at this point! I think in warmer weather it could be a really nice zoo based on the animals shown on their map. DO NOT VISIT THIS ZOO IN WINTER!!!

"Fun zoo"

We were in Atlanta from up north and took advantage of a warm day in January to visit the zoo. Some of the animals were active, others were thoroughly enjoying nap time but it was a fun zoo to walk around. We hoped to make it back for their zoo lights but the rain made that not as appealing.

"Good Views of Animals"

We visited on a cold weekday, so the zoo wasn't crowded. We were impressed with the number of animals (elephants, rhinos, lions, a tiger, a red panda, sun bears) and how close the animals were. The layout of the zoo is not very efficient, so I felt like we had to retrace our steps quite a bit. The zoo is pretty small, so it wasn't a big deal for us, but on a busy day, it might be difficult to get around.

"Lanterns were awesome!"

Had an absolute blast. We were in the 5:30 group so we got to see an elephant, an alpaca, and the lions while also seeing the lanterns! Tad overpriced for what you’re doing but still cool!

Yes, Zoo Atlanta allows outside food and drinks. Please note that glass containers, alcohol, and straws are prohibited. Straws are not permitted for the safety of the animals.

Only service animals are allowed. Zoo Atlanta’s Service Animal Admittance Policy defines service animals as dogs or miniature horses who are trained to perform a specific task for an individual with a disability. Emotional support animals and other animals are not permitted on zoo grounds.

The list of prohibited items include: weapons or sharp objects, alcoholic beverages, glass containers, straws and lids, drones, fireworks or explosive substances, skateboards, bicycles, and non-motorized scooters. Other restrictions may apply.
