Hyatt Vacation Club at The Welk – Escondido, CA

We fly in for a wedding and we have 4 rooms some paid some on points. Where do I begin. Lets start with the front desk, Maria checks us in and tells us our rooms are not ready yet ready it is almost 3pm. They finally give us our roons and they are all over the property which is huge! We called month ago and requested Rooms in the same section and an ADA room for my wife’s parents. Off course they put my inlaws in an room that had a flight of steps to get into! BAD! So we spent the next hour dealing with Spencer the manager to correct all of this. Once he corrected it all, We gave him one Credit card to put on all our rooms to pay for the rooms and for any incidentals. We finally got our parents into a room they can walk into. The next afternoon my kids come to check in and Non of the work we did the day before prepaying for all the rooms did not get done correctly by Spencer or Maria. Stephen was at the counter and he was extremely rude and condescending. Finally after 40 min they corrected all the room issues and Spencer had to come up to correct. He Could not remember what he did the day before and was charging each of our kids separately after we gave him a credit card for all the rooms. Now lets talk about the Service folks. Rafael was excellent as a golf cart driver getting us around. However we were given a phone number to call or a number to text for a ride around the community. Calling or texting was terrible to get them to pick you up. We spent so much time getting frustrated waiting. We decided to see what the time share part was like. We meet with Jay, We had a great time speaking to him and was terrific to have as a time share sales person. We continued for another day and morning. The third day, we spent time at the pool and tried to get to the restaurant which is good but like everything else takes so long. The best part of the resort are the two ladies who work in the Market Kimmie is one of the ladies names and ai think the other was Sabrina. They were quick, efficient and pleasant. As I mentioned I had 4 rooms for our family, Odd thing was yhey serviced some rooms each days and others we had to keep asking for service. And on checkout day, We requested an 11 AM checkout as they want you out at 10AM. However the cleaning crew starting knocking on the door at 8 AM and walked in on my son and his significate other. They left and came back again several times knocking on the door. What terrible service folks not respecting our space and time. Finally we requested extra towels several times and hours later they showed up. I will not be returning!

No WiFi. No functional WiFi in room. Multiple calls, no response. Met with customer service mgr. very little concern. Had to go to office to do zoom calls. If you need WiFi, go somewhere else.

What a great place. Amenities , activities and facilities are a 10. All the employees are extremely nice and are here to make your stay enjoyable. The grounds are beautiful and at 450 acres you don't feel pen down. If you can't enjoy yourself here , your expectations are way to high.

This is a large complex with lots to do. The units are still very clean and well appointed. On this stay we had a few issues that should have been caught before we checked in: 1. Toilet in master suite ran constantly 2. No hot water in the master shower, so we took a cold shower every morning. Didn’t call it in till the last day because we didn’t want maintenance in our unit while we were on vacation. 3. TV in the family room was not operating, TV’s in both bed rooms were fine. The pool areas are great but you now need to sign in and out your pool towels, seems pretty Micky mouse Some positives: Lots of activities Lots of grounds staff Very quiet Clean Nice beds and bedding Great parking Unfortunately they have lost the family vibe with the ownership change. I talked to one employee and he has worked there for 5 years, last long term person on his team. As he stated “It’s all about the money now”. I couldn’t agree more!

I’ve stayed at Hyatt Vacation Club properties before, and they’re usually pretty nice, but my experience at the Welk Resort was disappointing. The room itself wasn’t horrible, but there were very noticeable stains on the patio chairs, which was unacceptable. Honestly, they should consider using Adirondack chairs or something easier to keep clean for the porches. Another major issue was communication and housekeeping. The room phone wouldn’t connect to the front desk or housekeeping at all, so I had to physically walk down to the front desk multiple times. I requested that my room be cleaned since I was staying for 5 days, and although I was told it was scheduled, no one ever came. The next day, when I went back to the desk, I was assured towels would be delivered, but again—nothing ever showed up. For a resort under the Hyatt Vacation Club name, I expected better service and follow-through. The lack of responsiveness from the staff, paired with cleanliness issues, really brought down the experience. Hopefully, management takes these concerns seriously because this property has potential, but as it stands, it fell far short of expectations.
