I had a wonderful stay at the Marriott in La Jolla. The rooms are beautifully updated, very clean, and tastefully decorated, which made the stay feel comfortable and relaxing. The atmosphere during both check-in and check-out was welcoming and smooth. I especially want to recognize the valet service—James truly went above and beyond. He helped me load my car and generously shared tips on great places to explore around San Diego while I waited during my daughter’s surgery. His kindness and thoughtfulness made a stressful day so much easier, and it’s service like this that really sets this hotel apart.

Angel Li working in the Mclub is wonderful. She is so kind , friendly and helpful. We travel a lot and rarely come across someone who is so willing to help as much as she does. If there is an employee of the week or month she should surely receive that honor.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights for a business trip. My co-workers has chosen this property because they stayed at it before. They like the location as it was close to where we needed to go for business meetings. We arrived around 1pm. The lobby is quite nice. I think the front desk recognized that we came in as a group, so they checked us in fairly quickly and didn't say too much. After I got my key and went to my room, I noticed the hallways and room still used an older Marriott colour scheme. The property probably hasn't seen a major renovation for awhile. But it was clean and decent condition. Everything in my room worked (TV, fridge, WiFi), although I noticed there is no in-room safe. The washroom has a slightly off-putting "sewer gas" smell that didn't go away despite running the water in the sink and tub. I used the M Club Lounge, and it was pretty typical. It was a good size. Breakfast was pretty basic - one meat, one egg, one potato dish - along with oatmeal, breads, coffee, juices and some fruit. All I really need, but nothing more. Most lounges have a cappuccino/latte machine now, but this one didn't. I was in for one evening for appetizers and it was also not bad - selections of meat, cheeses and a pasta dish. The staff servicing the lounge were very nice. I checked out the gym, and it look fairly well equipped. Location is short walk to a shopping mall, which is filled with all sort of restaurants from basic to higher-end. Overall, I was fine with my visit. I had no major problems, but on the other hand, I didn't feel it provided me any real value or benefit compared to staying a cheaper Courtyard or Residence Inn. The GM emailed me after I checked out and asked for feedback, and I basically provided the same comments as I did for this review. He was receptive to my feedback, and I appreciated he had taken the time to reach out and ask.b
