"Not worth the price"

Made the mistake of going to the bar in the hotel. Didn't realize there was a 20% resort fee attached to the bill, on top of the automatic 20% tip. Two of us for lunch, shared a lobster roll with frozen French fries, 2 mixed drinks each for $68.00. Total bill was $105.00. We are locals, not going back

I recently booked two 8-bedroom cottages with pools at Margaritaville Orlando for a family reunion—28 people across four nights—and would strongly recommend it for large family gatherings. There’s plenty to do for all ages, and our group ranged from 18 months to 85 years old, all enjoying the experience overall. That said, I’m giving 3 stars due to a few significant frustrations specific to our stay. Lack of Pre-Arrival Information One of the most challenging aspects was the resort’s policy of not sharing details about the cottages in advance, including bedroom layouts. I understand the security concern about guests arriving early, but with 27 people, it was extremely difficult not knowing the number of king, queen, and twin beds ahead of time to plan sleeping arrangements. Thankfully, my family is easygoing, and we worked it out on check-in day with only a few hiccups. Maintenance Issues at Cottage 8153 Surf Street Unfortunately, one of the cottages (8153 Surf St.) had a non-functioning pool. The jacuzzi was empty, the pool was dirty, and we later found out the filter wasn’t working properly—issues that should have been caught during turnover. Despite multiple calls and visits to the lobby, it wasn’t addressed until late on day 2, and by day 3, we were told the pool would remain unusable for the rest of our stay. That was deeply disappointing, especially for a premium rental. We were only offered a partial day rental for the inconvenience of not having a pool for our entire stay. Resort Dining Hours Another small but annoying issue: while the pool area is open until 10 PM, food and drink service ends at 8 PM. One night, 15 of us arrived at 8:03 PM and were told we’d need to go to the main restaurant inside if we wanted anything—which isn’t ideal for a relaxed evening by the pool. What to Bring Each cottage had only starter supplies: one day’s worth of dish soap, laundry detergent, body wash, and very minimal (and bad) coffee. You’ll want to bring extra supplies and beach towels. There’s a Publix across the street, and delivery is easy. Also, security was very light, so it’s easy to run errands or accept deliveries. Cottage Layout (Both 8153 Surf Street & 8165 Surf Street) These two cottages had identical layouts: 1st Floor: 1 King, 1 Queen 2nd Floor: 1 King, 1 Twin room, 3 Queens 3rd Floor: 1 Twin room 8153 had a pool table, pac-man and a few other games on the third floor 8165 just had a pool table and one other game I can’t remember other than 20 somethings that had no interest on the third floor.

"Go somewhere else! It has gone downhill!"

This used to be one of my fav places to go and we have gone every year for a while now. However, this time left such a bad taste in my mouth that we probably won’t be back. Our cottage was lovely. However, the main tv in the living room wouldn’t come on and neither would the tv in one of the bedrooms. I called for maintenance FOUR times starting our first day there. Finally, I went down to the front desk in person to try and get it fixed. Each time they told me they would send someone right away. No one ever showed up. After being in the sun all day and cooking dinner, we just wanted to gather around the tv and watch a movie together. But no. What happened instead was everyone went to their own rooms to watch tv. Also, on our first day there, we went to open a drawer in the kitchen and the whole drawer came apart. I also called for maintenance to come fix that and no one ever showed up for that either. We had dinner one night in the hotel restaurant and the service there was abysmal as well. The lines to check in are ridiculously long so expect to wait at least 45 minutes to check in or check out. We finally left without checking out. And if you want to talk to anyone about a problem, good luck! There is no one to help you other than waiting in the huge line. When calling them about the issues we were having, someone would pick up, not say anything and then put you directly on hold. One time I waited on hold for over an hour and finally gave up. I also had a question before the trip and tried to call them and sat on hold for over an hour twice before giving up. This resort has the potential to be amazing but they need to get their act together. They are rife with management and employees who really don’t care their guests or how bad they make the resort look.

"Great place to stay!"

I'm surprised by the reviews for Margaritaville. I brought my family here for a kid-friendly vacation. We rented a 3-bedroom 3-bathroom cottage, which included 10 tickets for the H2O park, which my kids loved. The cabana we rented at H2O had full service. We didn't need to go out to buy anything. Our server, Jason, was by far the best. Not only did the resort have two huge pools at the main building, but there were smaller pools behind each section of the cottages. While everyone got dressed, my kids would go straight into that pool. I could see them from our cottage. For the price and everything included, I think it was worth it. The cottage was very clean. The pillows could be better, so bring your pillows, and you can bring your dogs. I will be returning, and I hope everyone else does too.

"Absolutely the worst hotel experience I’ve had in my entire life"

Don’t stay here! We got a cottage March 2025 When we got into our cottage SOMEONE was sleeping there! A bedroom was being used, and the bathroom on the lower lever smelled like urine. There was ANTS, sticky stuff all over tables, BLACK HAIR EVERYWHERE, large brown splatters on one headboard of a bed, stains on all fabric furniture, red sticky chunks of stuff with black hair stuck to it on coffee table. The walls and floors were also scuffed and dirty. Worst customer service. We tried to contact customer service at the resort, no manager would take our call throughout our stay. We had to drive and wait at the front desk for 30+ minutes at a time to demand to speak to a manager each time. If you’re wondering why we had to talk to them several times, it’s because they never resolved our issues. The first night they said there was no one on staff to come and address the filth. We asked for a different cottage, or even a hotel room. They declined. Four people had to sleep in one bed that evening, and we did not feel comfortable using any other portion of the cottage. The next day we went to Disney and came back to the same filth. They only made the beds and cleaned the bathrooms. We asked 3 times during this stay and they repeatedly only cleaned bathrooms and made beds. We basically hung out in 1 bedroom most of the time because everything was so gross? This is absolutely unacceptable, especially with the amount of money we paid to stay here!!!!! We had to fight to get some sort of discount due to these problems, and guess what, no discount was applied!! During checkout they said they could not show or provide any paperwork with the discounts because it was booked through another website. For over 2 months now we have been trying to speak to someone at Margaritaville. Management refuses our calls no matter how hard we push or wait on hold.. this is absolutely the worst hotel experience I’ve had in my entire life.
