Los Abrigados Resort and Spa in Sedona, AZ

Apparently, this resort was recently taken over by Hilton Vacation Clubs. So far Hilton has renovated 4 of the 20 or so buildings. My original one-bedroom suite was in one of the remaining 16 buildings. Because it was Thanksgiving weekend, it cost 3+ times the usual rate. I cannot believe Hilton had the audacity to charge that much money for a stale smelling space appointed like an out of date, off-brand, motel off the interstate that one would only rent at an exit in the middle of nowhere where it was the only option. Beyond being disappointed by the accommodations, the description of the property was a bait and switch. The property claims to have a restaurant on the premises, but we were told it was shut due to a major plumbing issue. After we had to call to have the televisions repaired, I had enough and went to the front desk to complain. Unlike the accommodations, the staff was terrific--they were professional yet understanding. The two men I spoke with acknowledge my frustrations. Eventually we were transferred to one of the renovated rooms. The difference was like night and day in appearance and comfort. There was one glitch though e.g. When the door to the bedroom was closed, it couldn't be opened from the inside. Good thing one of use was in the living area when we discover that! To summarize--the staff is terrific but only book here if you are assured you will have a renovated room, take some snacks and drinks ,and make sure to get your booking at a reasonable price since the property is not yet a Hilton quality property.

Now under Hilton Vacation Club ownership, a $40+ million renovation is underway. Call ahead and ask for a refurbished room (not guaranteed) and 2nd floor. Love the walkable location to lower old town. Three top-rated restaurants within 1-2 blocks walk and three more casual spots too. Pool is heated in cool weather and adjoining spa is huge to accommodate at least 10-15 people comfortably with room to spare.

My spa treatments were one of the highlights of my stay. My 60 minute massage with therapist Nicole was amazing. She listened to my requests for a gentle massage for relaxation. This was followed up with a Nourishing facial. with esthetician Jessica. Her attention to detail as well as recommending the add ons of eye treatment and lip care treatment were "spot on" My skin has never looked better. I look forward to my return visit.

Los Abrigdos had charm, location and amenities. There was a pool, hot tub, pickle ball courts, tennis courts, a play ground, a gym which had free classes and a kitchen. It was located next to Telaquepaque village and was walkable to downtown. We had an excellent time and we're able to enjoy excursions to the Grand Canyon and Antelope Canyon. The front desk was extremely helpful and helped us with the number to Groome transportation to Phoenix Airport when our Uber was canceled. Groome transportation is also recommended.

Loved our four night stay. Great location. Easy check in. Parking close to our suite. Spotless accommodations. Friendly staff. Wonderful pool, hot tub, tennis court, spa, workout area, miniature golf, and grounds. Fairly priced. Will stay here again if we return to Sedona.
