"Do not recommend & don't understand the positive reviews."

Be aware - there is no cover and no self parking. Valet is &40/day+tax, outside & Florida has lots of storms/rain in the summer. You would be outside w/suitcases in the rain/storms. Tones of construction going on with the exterior of the hotel. Does NOT look like the pictures online. Lots of sketchy people loitering around the hotel & not safe for walking, especially after dark. Staff is nice, but I would NOT stay here again. Nothing nearby to walk to.

"Excellent hotel, well worth the price."

So I am doing a roadtrip through Florida and a friend was free to hang out in Tampa. She had recommended a place in Ybor City, but I do a lot of solo travel and this place caught my eye based on price and location. This hotel was simply excellent. Got a last minute booking thought 3rd party site for an amazing price, which honestly had me a bit worried. As it turned out, my worries were unfounded. I called to confirm my reservation just in case it was a scam. I actually got a real person at the front desk to confirm my reservation! Serious? How often does that happen anymore? She confirmed my reservation for me and got me an early check in and a late check out for no additional charges. They have a very reasonable valet, considering the somewhat dodgy parking options in the area ($50 per night). The hotel has this fun Roaring 20s theme. My “standard” king room was huge, with a couch and solid sized shower. Staff was extremely friendly, so much so that I had a couple of drinks at the hotel bar. I can’t speak to the restaurant or breakfast, but I did hit up the coffee shop that they have on the 1st floor. I found the location very convenient, with a $8 uber to Ybor city. Didn’t get a chance to explore the downtown but I get the feeling you could anywhere in the area easily. Look? I personally hate the fact that we as a society only write reviews to complain and never for when things are done well. So, with that caveat, I will say that it’s a great hotel, well staffed at set up and worth the money. Take that for what you will.

"Beautiful room; awful wifi; no water pressure"

Stayed for business. Wifi was totally unusable. No cell reception. Terrible water pressure. Tried to get them to repair. No such luck. Beautiful room though -- nice renovation. There are many much better options in Tampa. I'd recommend you stay somewhere else.

This complaint is really for my travel agent that booked this hotel. I wanted a hotel for a night that would have pick up at airport and also take us to our port for our cruise. They did not have pick up at airport. The rate was ridiculously high and was higher with all the misc charges. It was over $500. Again I'm letting my inexperience AAA agent know about this. When I got to the room, I pulled back the bed spread and it was a big stain in the middle just below the pillows. It was about 12" radius. The shower a warm water but not hot. We complained the evening we arrived and they were going to send someone up to take a look. The next morning it wasn't as warm as the night before. First time in Tampa and was hoping for a better experience downtown but it was a major let down. Staff was nice and there's a great restaurant on the first floor

"Grand dame? Maybe."

I've long admired this hotel and had never been inside until now. Decided to go for cocktails and have a peek around. It appears renovations to the exterior are still ongoing and despite all the prior photos I've seen, I was disappointed to see that the decor is now black, white and grey and looked so depressing in my opinion. The beautiful crystal Empire chandeliers I used to see glowing from the outside are gone, replaced with cheap looking "modern" ones. The "Dan" was ok, bartender wasn't too friendly. Valet or street parking is available for a fee. I feel like it could be an "it" kind of place but has a way to go. Here's hoping for the best considering it's history and I may consider a stay one day, maybe.
