"Classic"

Returned to this hotel for the first time in 30+ years and was pleased to find that so much of what made it unforgettable is still here: historic charm, amazing oceanfront, walkable town around it. The recent renovation made for a bright, clean, and comfortable room. We loved sitting on the large balcony and enjoying the view of the courtyard. All the negatives you might read are true: room rates are exorbitant, the room is unforgivably small, and the public areas are overrun with people not staying at the hotel. We didn’t care, though. We had a great time.

"No ocean access! Sewage!"

Checked in today before the room was ready and said “No problem! We’ll go to the beach.” The receptionist said we would get a text when the room was ready. What she did not say was that the ocean was closed due to raw sewage! My young child and I walked through the waves and played in the wet sand for an hour before a lifeguard drove by and informed us and a dozen others to stay out. There are no signs, no warnings, no notice from the OCEANFRONT hotel that the ocean is off limits. When we returned to the lobby another receptionist told us the red flags were the sign. I told her red flags on the east coast mean no lifeguard. She said there was an app we could have checked since this is an ongoing problem. I asked how I would know about that, being from 3000 miles away? Completely insane, irresponsible, and unexpected from a supposed luxury hotel. Took a scalding hot shower and will never return.

"5 Star Customer Service for Group Travel"

I **highly** recommend the Del for your next corporate event or retreat. It's a beautiful historic property that's been recently revitalized with a massive renovation. The views are stunning and the beaches are beautiful. But what really stands out isn't the property at all. It's their staff. I have previously planned retreats at top hotels both nationally and internationally, and the care given to our group in planning and troubleshooting logistics at the Del in preparation for this trip is some of the best customer services I've ever received. The staff at this location, in particular Erin Suazo, Anna Cylkowski, and Raquel Alverez, worked an absolute miracle to resolve a last minute payment and logistics issue, which made a group retreat we booked at this location possible. People often throw around phrases like "5 - star" and "white glove service" casually. But that is not the case here. They stayed late and worked through problem after problem until the issue was resolved. Then Erin called back AGAIN after hours to make sure there was absolutely nothing else we needed and to close the loop. Major kudos. I would book here again without hesitation. If you're an admin or event planner - they'll make you look like a rockstar.
