I recently stayed here for work and wow, was I amazed. The rooms were clean and my view was perfect (but I booked the room category I wanted - there are a lot I’ll admit). Jemir in reservations helped me when I had extra questions and Kyra from the front office was there when I was overwhelmed. The restaurants are great, the beach is beautiful, and the staff made me feel important. What more could you ask for?

"Beautiful Hotel -- That I'd Never Stay at Again"

Just back from a stay here last weekend. It's a 5-star property with worse service than a 2-star business hotel. None of the amenities you'd expect from a hotel at this price point were available -- early check-in, late check-out, turn down service, after hours room service, etc. And the front desk staff was absolutely rude. I was told the hotel was full but I was "upgraded" to a new room. Well, I went from ocean-view to courtyard view, so it was no upgrade at all. I complained and was texted back "Still beautiful!" and when I relented "Del-ightful". In context, it was obnoxious and didn't take seriously my unhappiness. Of course, no one bothered to rectify the situation with even a superficial gesture or note. As has been said in other reviews, unless you're a corporate client or wedding event, the staff here doesn't value you. And overall, the Del doesn’t treat hotel guests any better than any folks who walk in off the street... Meaning, there is little to no incentive to stay here. Next time we're in San Diego, we won't be.

"Good ambiance but falls short"

Family of 4 staying 1 night for quick getaway. I’ve always wanted to stay here and we knew it would be a splurge so set our expectations accordingly. The location is great right on the beach and a nice boardwalk to stroll on. The historic decor and shops/bars/restaurants have a nice ambiance and upscale feel. The pool was rather small and underwhelming for such a large resort. Also note that you can’t swim in the beach water as it’s polluted from the Tijuana sewers. We stayed in the views which were nicely renovated in a contemporary decor. Minor things like no trash can in the bedroom or shower caps or robes provided. These are small touches that should be included for what they are charging. These beds were comfortable but the shower did not get hot. I don’t know that I would stay here again. You can just stay at a nearby hotel and walk over to enjoy the beach and restaurants.

"Worth the Splurge"

Our stay at the Hotel Del Coronado was the experience of a lifetime. We traveled from the east coast to experience the pacific ocean, which was on my mother's "Bucket List." From the moment we drove up, the entire staff was friendly and happy to assist us enjoy our vacation, but there were two standouts - first, Armando at the front desk, who catered to my mother's love of history, finding us a room in the newly renovated Victorian wings (ensuring we still had the ocean-front room I had splurged on). The second standout was Ray Ray, the most delightful waiter at the Veranda - a true ray of sunshine even on cloudy May mornings.

"Expensive but has many attractive features."

Very expensive but lovely hotel. One elevator in main building. We stayed in the cabana section #4247. Very nice, roomy, facing hot tub and pool. Refrigerator and coffee maker. June gloom prevented any quality ocean view for our three days. Will try to avoid gloom in future. Temperature never got above 70. Saw numerous dogs. Service top notch. Best bar, Babcock and Story. Excellent manhattan and cosmo. ($20 each} Great breakfast buffet. Ervin and other staff provide excellent, not overly attentive service. ($52 per person). Nice view of lawn and beach and ocean. On Del Beach, chairs and umbrellas $50 per person. S’mores station with numerous tables and chairs.
