Both Leslie and Chris at the front desk went over and beyond. Aces!! Great, friendly customer service from both of them. It had been a couple of years since we have stayed here. There has been some nice updates to the rooms and other shared areas. Nice breakfast, bbq area and pool/hot tub.

We needed a convenient spot near(ish) to Escondido for one night within the Hilton family of hotels and chose this Homewood Suites location over other brand hotels as we were traveling with our son and wanted to be able to have separate rooms. It's an all suites hotel so it served that need. The room itself on appearance was very nice, perhaps recently refurbished and felt clean and modern. We had a couple experiences which made it a little weird though. The rooms have motion detecting lights that you can only sort of control. The shower for example...the light turns off when you're in the shower as it doesn't sense your motion and there's no way (obvious to us) to force it to stay on. That was a bummer for the 2 of us who wanted to shower but had to do so in the dark unless we opened the shower door and waved our arm around to hopefully catch the attention of the sensor to give us another 30 seconds of light. This also happens if you're sitting on the toilet. The last thing I want to think about in that situation is having to provide additional motion so the light doesn't turn out. In the living space, a light also automatically turns on when it senses motion. Not great for having our son trying to sleep in that room and us having to move through it to leave the room or access the kitchen to have all the lights suddenly turn on around our sleeping boy. Also had a disappointing non-fitness room experience. The fitness room was no accessible because of renovations...okay bad luck in terms of timing...but they said I could go to the adjacent Hampton Inn and use their fitness room which was open 24 hours. So I did, but, unfortunately their fitness room actually isn't open 24 hours as I learned when I got there. So no fitness room and wasted time walking in the rain to the hotel next door based in the inaccurate info given by the staff. So overall disappointing and strange (especially the lights situation)...seems like they forget to dot a few Is when setting these rooms up.

Disappointing Stay After Years of Loyalty We’ve been staying at this Homewood Suites for the past four years, but this recent visit was by far the worst experience we’ve had. First, when we arrived at 4 PM for check-in, we were told our room wasn’t ready—not because it hadn’t been cleaned, but because it hadn’t been “punched.” The front desk even admitted the room had been cleaned earlier that morning. This was incredibly frustrating after a long day of travel. Second, there was no mention during the booking process that the hotel was undergoing renovations. The back parking lot was filled with large storage containers, leaving fewer spaces for guests. This meant a long walk to our room at night, which was especially difficult with a sleepy four-year-old. Third, our room had visible mildew on the bathroom ceiling, and the HVAC unit made a loud squealing noise throughout our stay. When we reported it, the onsite maintenance person told us it couldn’t be fixed because “it’s old,” and the hotel was fully booked, so we couldn’t be moved to another room. Fourth, the elevator broke down on the evening of July 3rd—during a sold-out holiday weekend. It didn’t seem like there was any attempt to get it repaired quickly, which likely impacted a lot of other guests as well. Lastly, we had to report an individual who was sleeping in the hallway on the third floor. This raised serious safety concerns and made us question the overall management of the property. We’ve always enjoyed this hotel in the past, but this experience left us very disappointed. I hope management takes these issues seriously, as this stay did not live up to the Hilton standard we’ve come to expect.

Our family stayed in a room with 2 queens and a sofa bed for 1 night. The website said the hotel is undergoing renovations scheduled for completion June 1. We stayed May 29 so I was expecting an updated hotel. Beware renovation is far from over and most of the hotel including hallways and elevators were in disrepair with pealing wallpaper and torn carpets. The sofa bed was stained and very thin. You could feel the springs and only 1 flat sheet was provided. The upholstery on the chairs was also stained. The carpet was torn and nails were sticking up in some spots. A previous guest had set an alarm in the room which went off at 5:30am! I brought this to the manger’s attention and they responded quickly and offered a discount, however based on this experience I would not stay at a Hilton again. We usually book Marriott or IHG. Good things: The queen beds were comfortable. The bathroom was clean. Breakfast was ok. The breakfast area was clean and very attractive.

The front desk person was very friendly and professional. Then it quickly went downhill from there. Luckily we only stayed for one night since it was very close to Legoland. The hotel is going through some renovation so maybe they are replacing the filthy and worn out carpet. The room didn’t have any bath soap or hair conditioner dispenser but we managed since I usually travel with a spare bar of soap. The living room sofa should have been replaced 5 years ago. The padding in the seat cushion is nonexistent and there was a noticeable hole in the back cushion that was covered by a pillow. There are probably “free” sofas on Craigslist that are in better condition. Overall it was probably one of my least memorable Hilton experience.
