I had a great stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Kona. The hotel is exactly what you expect from a Holiday Inn Express—in the best way. My room was clean, modern, and comfortable. The bed was great, and the shower had excellent water pressure. Breakfast was wonderful as well, offering a wide variety of options that made it easy to start the day. The hotel is located right in downtown Kona, so you should expect some noise and busyness, but the convenience of the location more than makes up for it. I also want to mention that Albert, the General Manager, checked me in and was fantastic. I travel a lot and stay in everything from limited‑service hotels to full‑service resorts, and it’s extremely rare to see a GM at all during a stay—let alone have one personally check you in. It was a real bonus and speaks to the level of care at this property. Overall, a great stay and I would absolutely return although I don't understand the secrecy with the tunnels.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights while in Kona for our honeymoon. As an IHG member, properties like this are why I will always seek out a Holiday Inn Express when possible! The staff was amazing throughout our stay but none better than Donna at the front. She checked my wife and I in for our stay, and remained a constant presence that was so friendly and went above and beyond to provide excellent customer service each time we walked through those doors. The property itself is a 3 minute walk from some awesome restaurants and along the water for the most amazing sunset views. Kona stole my wife and my heart and we will be back and when we are, we will certainly be back to this property for the island vibes and the hospitality like Donna showed us!

Convenient location for diving, snorkeling and eating. Provided beach towels. Good breakfasts. Excellent value! Rooms had tile floors making them appropriate for customers doing diving/snorkeling/beach activities.

Definitely a happy surprise. Great room. No view but clean, quiet. (Thete ARE ocean view rooms) Good breakfast. Excellently situated between the pier, restaurants, and the marriott a short walk to the right, with shops, market and more restaurants to the left. Walkable to safeway. The only minus was a short but darkish walk in a narrow street to the hotel from the main street but i'm especially sensitive to that travelling solo. Otherwise, security and evening walking were fine.

The staff were super friendly and gave us a free unexpected upgrade. Rooms are spacious and clean. A really nice breakfast included in the stay. Very convenient for shopping, restaurants, excursions and near the beach. All of it you can walk too. It ‘s all right behind the hotel great ice cream, pretty much anything you are looking for. Several souvenir shops reasonably priced. We stayed here on our last day for our vacation. I wished we had more time in this area of Kona as it is very nice.
