"Basic hotel"

Firstly we booked Times Square , this is in a side road not on Times Square . Very small rooms , felt like a hostel not a hotel . Reception area was nothing like a hotel . Rooms very small on 5 th floor no view at all . Breakfast area like a canteen . This was just not for us at all . Just very basic accommodation..disappointing. We checked out booked into a hotel that suited us better.. . Lesson learnt read reviews and do research book independent the reception staff were pleasant .but there were some unsavoury characters outside hotel .

"Mixture of good and bad points"

We have just returned from a family stay of 4 nights and have to say it was a bit disappointing but it had its good points as well. It's basic but not bad value for money for New York. The Holiday Inn express Times Square New York, is not to be confused with the Holiday inn express Manhattan Times Square South. (Neither are very near Times Square) Our taxi dropped us off at the wrong hotel to start with so we had a 15 minute walk with all our luggage to get the right hotel. The first hotel seemed chaotic in the reception so we were sort of glad it was the wrong hotel, but then this hotel was almost as bad. The staff were very helpful, it's just that so much is always going on in the lobby, which is such a small space. There were free bottles of water and packets of crisps that you could help yourself to, as well as free coffee, biscuits and hot chocolate depending on the time of day. (Nicest hot chocolate ever!) Breakfast was absolute chaos, I found myself stood eating in the corridor as there were too few tables. It was like a small and really basic canteen. Having said that, I thought the food was really good and as much as you wanted. There are over 30 floors with only two lifts and one of them was out of order for a day. The queues were massive of people trying to get up and down from the rooms. A lift actually broke down with us in it which wasn't a nice experience. The rooms could do with a refurb but were clean and beds were comfortable. The room heaters were noisy. No bar in the hotel but plenty around so not an issue. Some of the pictures on here make it seem spacious but you couldn't swing a cat in the lobby or breakfast room.

"One of the best places to stay at Times Square New York!"

For a full filling stay in NY and in the centre , is what Holiday Inn is. It’s walking distance from the famous Times Square. Very close to pier 83 for a cruise to Statue of Liberty. It’s on 36 street and 8th avenue , close to Madison square as well. It’s a tall structure with a fantastic view either river facing or Empire State Building.

"Good price/performance on a good location"

Overall we had a nice stay in this hotel. The rooms were larger than expected and clean. The beds were comfortable. Bathroom was okay with a good shower. Breakfast is included and okay for the price. However the breakfast room was too small to handle all the guests. So it could be busy. The location of the hotel is great: on walking distance (10-15 minutes) from Times Square, Bryant Park, and Times Square - 42nd Street Subway Station. There is also a nice bar "The Joyce ..." only a few hundred meters from the hotel. Two issues when we stayed: one of the elevators was out of order on two days, and on our last day the water supply failed for some time. Without these glitches it would have been a four-star rating.

"It’s like a comedy of errors hotel,,,🤣🤣🤣🤣"

Very welcoming on arrival after a long flight. Handed a welcome bag which is a nice gesture. Staff are lovely, especially Michelle the front of desk manager,,,, We have never laughed as much as we have in this hotel, you couldn’t write it if you had too.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Our 1st room was on the 9th floor which is ok but not this hotel the lifts are very small and I felt very claustrophobic, but was moved to the 2nd floor the day after which was good,,,, so we thought,🤣 On entering the room there was a large crack in the bathroom sink, the phone didn’t work and most of all the safety deposit box didn’t work…. We told reception and Lexon a lovely young man came and replaced the box, sealed the sink and got us a new phone… Also the long mirror fell off the wall, was stuck up with blue insulation tape.🤣 The day after when using the stairs the FIRE ESCAPE ROUTE, the door was jammed and wouldn’t open,,, guess what???? Blue insulation tape again.🤣🤣🤣🤣 Myself and partner went to reception and spoke to Michelle the front desk manager she was lovely very apologetic and listened to everything we had to say…. We were returning back to this hotel 9 days later for a further 2 nights before flying back to the U.K. Michelle told us that she would sort everything out for us and not to worry,,, On returning we were greeted by Michelle who was apologetic once again and told us that the water was out in the hotel and our room wasn’t ready, We waited for a while then Michelle relocated us next door but 1 to the Hampton hotel,,,,,, Thanks again Michelle for everything you did for us you go above and beyond,,,,,👏👏 This is a IHG hotel part of the Hilton group but definitely not the HILTON.. This was our 5th time in New York ,,,, But next time will be going back to The HILTON MIDTOWN….
