It is hard to write a review of this hotel. The employees were all great to us. The room was standard for this type of hotel although somewhat dated. We had a room facing the highway, but did not hear it so there is good soundproofing. There is no lobby to speak of in terms of a bar, place to hangout etc. However the restaurant/bar on the top floor was great about letting our group meet up there. The location of the hotel is problematic, but there is nothing to be done about that. It is on the highway at the far end of 6th street. The sidewalks are treacherous around the hotel, especially at night. But a city problem to repair them and not the hotel. We were older couples in town for a football game so 6th St. was not for us. It's like Bourbon street in New Orleans. Again, not the hotel's problem, but something to be aware of. I would not as a woman, walk outside the hotel alone after dark. There is a lot of homelessness in Austin and as always most are harmless. There was one woman who was violent and it took several police to subdue her. We were in Austin many years ago and were lucky enough to stay at the Four Seasons. I believe that area of the city is nicer than this location. It all depends on your budget.

Stayed here with some friends. Upon arrival, we had issues right away because they denied that they received any note from us about connecting rooms even though we put this request in months prior to the trip. Then, we come to the second room and it smells like mold. Smelled so disgusting we couldn't breathe. We then had so much trouble all getting moved to the same floor. The front desk staff makes faces at you as if they hate speaking to you. I don't understand because we weren't asking for anything crazy, just for us to be put on the same floor and to have the smelly room changed. They only said yes to that after we told them we'd like to speak with their sales employee that we met in the elevator.. The entire time we were there, the staff in the front had such unhappy faces each time they saw us. Did not smile once. It was clear they hated us, but for no reason at all. The entire time they had 2 rooms avaliable right next to each other, but refused to give them to us just bc we booked with Expedia and they claimed the new rooms were more expensive (side note - they were not lol. they were smaller than our original rooms). They were just too lazy and didn't care enough until they got scared we were going to complain to management other than that, room and hotel were fine

I was at the Wrong Hilton and the valet Mr. Thomas came over and helped me with directions. He also gave me a good tip on a restaurant near by. The valet service is super nice and informative. I would definitely trust this guy parking my car. I'll be coming back to this Hilton next time.

"NOT SAFE"

Don’t stay here. The area has a problem with aggressive homeless people. While I was staying here, a homeless man tried to force his way into mine and other peoples’ rooms. When he was unsuccessful, he pulled the emergency fire alarms on my floor and others, then tried to beckon me over to the emergency exit he was blocking. I took a different emergency exit, only to have it dead-end in a locked fire door, which must be against fire code (or should be). It turns out, this man had been living in that emergency exit stairwell for at least two days. As a solo female traveler, this felt extremely unsafe. I asked for a refund after this experience, but was not given one. Also, the elevators seem very poorly maintained — they rattled a lot and one seemed to have loose electrical panel.
