"Terrible Stay"

My recent visit to the Hilton Columbus at Easton was, unfortunately, the worst hotel experience I have ever encountered. While the hotel itself is nice, the disorganization in operations and the lack of effective customer service significantly diminished my stay and negatively shaped my perception of the property. 1. Parking Issues and Lack of Communication: Upon arrival, I was not made aware by the valet staff that self-parking was an option. Instead, my car was automatically valet parked, incurring a charge of $30 for the day. It was only through conversation with another guest on the second night that I learned self-parking was available. This lack of clear communication resulted in unnecessary charges and confusion. 2. Disruptive Housekeeping Incident: On the last night of my stay—Christmas Day—I was unexpectedly awakened in the middle of the night by a knock at my door from a housekeeping staff member. This interruption was especially frustrating as I was aiming to get adequate rest before my drive home the following morning. Believing the late-night knock to be urgent, I answered the door, only to be told by the employee that I was not supposed to be in the room. This was surprising, given that I had checked into this room and was not scheduled to check out until the next day. Rather than addressing the matter internally, the staff member instructed me to contact the front desk myself, highlighting a lack of accountability and poor internal communication. 3. Billing Problems and Unmet Promises: During the check-out process, I discovered several discrepancies on my bill. I was charged for valet parking every day of my stay, despite only using this service on the first night—when I had not been informed of the self-parking option. Additionally, at check-in, I was told I would receive a $15 per person per day Hilton Food & Beverage Credit for breakfast. However, upon check-out, I was denied this credit, with staff now claiming I was not eligible. The only reason I chose to eat breakfast at the hotel was because of this promised credit; otherwise, I would have opted for one of the many nearby dining options, as the food at the hotel was unremarkable. This inconsistency between what was promised and what was delivered was disappointing. 4. Erroneous Charges After Departure: After returning home and reviewing my credit card statement, I found that the hotel had charged me twice for my stay. This now means that I have to interact with hotel staff again to resolve yet another mistake. I was only prompted to check my statement due to the multiple errors during my stay, which had eroded my trust in the hotel's ability to manage its operations accurately. Ordinarily, I would not have checked my statement so closely, but the repeated issues compelled me to verify the charges.

I had a really great experience at the Hilton in Easton! The hotel is beautiful with a vibrant bar in the lobby and updated/refreshing rooms. The front desk checked us in quickly and upgraded my room due to my gold status. The breakfast in the morning was incredible, thanks to Pat! I gave him the freedom to make my omelet however he wanted to, and it was to die for! Thank you to the entire Hilton team for a memorable stay

Breakfast was prepared with excellence and a smile. We were greeted warmly and taken care of expeditiously. One negative yet sanitary flaw - the waitresses wipe seats off with the same towel they wipe the table off with. This is soooo unsanitary.

"Great location, festive decor, a strong B+ overall - we recommend!"

I am so glad we stayed here since we couldn't be in our own home for Christmas. Almost all staff members we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful, especially Scott and Dimitry at the front door. The staff is very diverse on many levels and we loved that. We visit Columbus frequently and had heard that there were car break-ins at most hotels at Easton but this property has 24 hour security and we had no issues. We did self-park, not valet. Hotel public areas and dining: The hotel is in a great location and was decked out for the holidays and it was so cheerful. It's too bad some customers felt it was okay to put their shoes on furniture and coffee tables. A reminder of lack of social graces in the USA. Anyway, the staff at breakfast were lovely. The only odd thing I found was that no one at the omelet station would ask if we would like to order anything. We had to basically interrupt them after waiting for several minutes while they chopped veggies in front of us. They absolutely could see us standing there - we were just a few feet away. We had the same thing happen at night. We tried to get sandwiches and could hear staff chatting out of sight in the back but there was no way to get their attention (e.g. no bell) so we got expensive salads from the takeaway space and used self-pay. They were not very good. Staff was great overall. At breakfast one morning, there was a man who was acting atypical and had some outbursts. I did not see this but my husband was there and he said the staff was wonderful, they engaged him and were kind, instead of nasty and threatening, clearly trained to handle stressful situations with grace and thoughtfulness of all customers. We used the pool/hot tub one night and it's one of the nicer ones we've encountered for this type of hotel. Plenty of towels and places to sit. Clean, well marked signs and exits. If the hotel is not too busy - and it wasn't during our visit - there is an area where the ballrooms are with a long hallway. If my kids were young and no one was around, I would use that space to move and play games. It's bright, pretty, and no one was around. Room: we reserved a room with two queens, an Easton view and a tub. The beds seemed more like doubles and there was no tub. It was late when we arrived so I didn't request a room change. The room was clean and fairly spacious. I appreciated that there was a lot of storage and places to put stuff. The beds were comfortable but the pillows seemed a little old and lumpy. One bed had a comforter on it but the other just had a sheet and a thin blanket. No extra linens or the missing comforter in the closet. I could have asked for these things but 3 out of 4 of us get hot at night so it wasn't a big deal. We just found the inconsistencies odd. There were plenty of outlets - yay! The bathroom had great storage for our toiletries and I liked having a vanity with bench across the way. There were plenty of towels. What we didn't like: very low light in the bathroom, we tried to use the plug-in close-up mirror with different light settings to make it brighter but the only light setting that worked was the evening one so that wasn't helpful. There was no conditioner in the shower container. Like our other issues, we could have called to get a refill but we had some with us and used it instead. It also took the water in the shower a really long time to heat up. Like 5-10 minutes. This is so bad for the environment to just let water run. Again, most of our issues probably could have been reported and dealt with but I really hate having to call to request to correct things that shouldn't be an issue to begin with. Then we have to wait for people to arrive, etc. We were visiting family and didn't want to be waiting around. Overall I do recommend this hotel. If I stay there again, and I probably will, I will just double check that the room they give me is what I requested and I will check things like conditioner levels and bedding when I walk in the room.
