I found the property to be just what I needed. Large rooms and balconies, close proximity to all the attractions in colonial Williamsburg & accessibility to parking the whole day of your departure!

After many trips to Williamsburg this was my first stay at the Griffin. It was perfect for my family of 11, including 5 grandchildren 8 and under. Ability to use the resort’s facilities is a key feature as is the proximity to the incredible Williamsburg Inn. Use the coupon book for discounts on dining, golf, spa and tennis. Indoor pool was a hit. And with the package all adults had length of stay admission to all exhibits.

The grounds are beautiful. The rooms are pretty dated with peeling walls and no microwave. You also have to call the main hotel for ice which takes a while.

This was my family’s 8th or 9th visit to Williamsburg with the vast majority staying at the Lodge and second consecutive year at the Griffin. Unfortunately when my wife returned from the bathroom in the middle of the night, she told me she had killed a large roach in the bathroom. This was unsettling and we would never fall back asleep. I reasoned with my wife though that it’s probably a one-off since we’ve never experienced anything like this in previous stays. Within an hour or so, a second roach was crawling on the wall in the main room and after some effort it was neutralized. So we had a dead roach on the sofa and one floating in the toilet which was not functioning properly and clogged. While the hotel offered to transfer us to the Lodge, or another room, we weren’t interested and decided to go home after my son’s tour of William and Mary. They comped dinner from the night before but nothing off the room other than waiving the early departure fee. I understand these things can happen but seeing multiple bugs in one room within a short period told me there’s a maintenance and infestation problem and this wasn’t the random bug passing through. What’s more unfortunate is that we go to Colonial Williamsburg every year and stay on property so this has tarnished our perceptions and ability to feel restful and at home for any future trips here, which is the feeling we’ve always experienced. We have always been sad to check out but this year we were disappointed at how it turned out and looked forward to leaving. It doesn’t take away from our commitment and love for this community but they need to up their game in the area of cleanliness and pest control at this property
