"Lost it’s magic"

We have been going every year to the GWL in Mason, Ohio and this year the magic was gone. Carpet in the lobby and our room was disgusting. There were gold fish and nerf darts behind the tv from previous guests. Mattresses were uncomfortable. Hair balls beside the pools. Dirty band aides on the floor. Chewing gum on the floor. Stage was moved to a different location in the lobby so then at every event we were blocking the stairs and there is no space for the kids to dance and play. Story time at night is the exact same story every night and the story teller told the kids if they didn’t have “calm hands” she wouldn’t call on them to volunteer. The free events are exactly the same every day. Arts and crafts is just a coloring sheet. Dunkin’ Donuts was serving old cold coffee in the marketplace and did not offer to make more. He said “you can just have it for free”. Sad to say this will probably be our last trip. The fees keep piling on but the quality is going down. You should not be charged parking if you are renting a room.

"Could be an awesome stay, but it wasn't. Go for the day instead just to the waterpark."

I was excited to visit our first Great Wolf Lodge with our little family. The brand is on point and celebrating kids - loved the dance party, the Build a Bear option, and the water park wa s agreat size - not too big or too small. We even dined in hte steak house and it was surprisingly delicious! The cons are the serice (very slow and sparse, the LOVE the word "NO", the agressive housekeeping team, and the quality of the rooms. We paid for late checkout, and the housekeeping team was banging on our door from 9am to 2pm every hour - it was SO annoying! For the cost, I woudn't return. Pros: Waterpark, kids activities, and food quality Cons: Service, horrible bathrooms and room quality. The bathrooms haven't been updated since 1970 - gross!

"Crazy kid-filled place (went without kids, sort of)"

I went there with a friend (in our own room) and we joined up with a family of four for a three night stay. I felt like we were one of the few couples there without children- they put us at the very end of a hallway, which was nice. I don't really recommend it for childless couples unless you just want a walkable hotel to KI. The room was clean, spacious, had a nice view of fireworks (ask for room 3108 or one near it). I appreciated having the little living room and balcony. We didn't eat lunch or dinner at GW because of celiac and visits to KI, and can't really walk to any restaurants easily, so we drove to Outback and other Mason restaurants. It's suburbia at its finest. My friend and I did the breakfast buffet, which wasn't too bad (def better than continental hotel breakfasts) but then I realized it wasn't fully worth the $20 if I wasn't willing to stuff myself before riding roller coasters. I did enjoy getting the freshly popped popcorn for a snack. Pizza was fine, ice cream was good (long line though). The waterpark was fun, a little more crowded than I was expecting for the summer, but sometimes the shorter slides would have almost no line. It must be worse during weekends in the winter. We went to KI every day and it took us two adults 8-9 minutes to walk there. The kids went in stroller or they drove (they were 6 and almost 9). I feel like GW nickle and dimes you a little with extra costs- parking, arcade, mini golf, magiquest, and build a bear, but I know parents can buy that as a package beforehand. Mini golf was unappealing for adults or teens.

We stayed for one night and utilized the indoor waterpark for nearly 2 days. The waterpark, lodge and rooms are showing wear. The room itself had carpet that was coming up on the center seam, the wrong size shower curtains, a poor paint job, and worn out walls. The Waterpark had numerous water toys that needed repair, painting needing done and was untidy. Never once did I see any cleaning crew walking around. On February 8th around 1 PM after I was struggling to get all my food up to my family from the pizza place downstairs, I asked the store clerk by the 2nd floor elevator if I could pick up my water from his fridge because I didn't have enough hands to carry it. He was extremely rude, saying it was a different brand. When I showed him my receipt for the same brand they had, he became more angry continually just telling me to take it. I was definitely let down by Great Wolf Lodge.
