Description

Towering sandstone cliffs, sweeping desert valleys, and wide-open views surround you on this off-road journey just outside Zion National Park. Travel in a private Jeep or fully climate-controlled CanAm Defender and reach scenic viewpoints that most visitors never see. The short adventure combines rugged backcountry driving with a quick, easy walk to one of the area’s most photogenic overlooks.

The tour begins at the Zion Rivers Edge Adventures complex before heading onto a private off-road trail toward Zion Lava Ridge Mesa. Along the way, your guide navigates rugged terrain while sharing insights about the surrounding landscapes, including sweeping views of Smithsonian Butte, the dramatic formations of the Canaan Mountains, and the lush valley carved by the Virgin River.

At the top of the mesa, panoramic viewpoints reveal miles of desert cliffs and plateaus stretching toward Zion. After taking in the scenery, the adventure continues toward the base of The West Temple, one of the park’s most recognizable formations.

A short and easy walk leads to Zion Cliffside Point, a private-access overlook located directly along the boundary of Zion National Park. From this dramatic vantage point, expansive views open up across the Virgin River Valley, the Canaan Mountains, and the towering red cliffs inside the park—creating a memorable photo stop before returning to the starting point.

"A highlight from our trip!"

This was such a highlight from our trip. We loved our tour! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and our group learned so much from our tour. I think one of the best aspects of this tour is that you and your group have the ability to ask questions - so each tour is unique. We went on the afternoon tour and seeing the colors at sunset was absolutely beautiful. They also do evening tours for stargazing which sounded amazing. I’m adding that to my list for our next Zion trip. Overall, this was such a fantastic experience. While we of course loved our hikes in the park, this tour gives you a real perspective of the surrounding area and allows you to see more remote areas that we would have never found ourselves. Also, after walking with other park visitors all day, it felt very special to experience the surrounding Zion area with just my group. I highly recommend this tour!

I would highly recommend this tour and Eric in particular. Not only was he an excellent driver, but gave us a wealth of information about this trip and other trips such as Grafton (ghost town) and the drive into the canyon. The scenery was spectacular.
