"Reception staff rude and the hotel does not return deposit"

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in September. Room was clean but location wasn’t great, had to keep curtains closed for privacy as room looked out to the pool. As we was only there 2 nights this wasn’t to much of an issue as we wasn’t in the room for long. On arrival the air conditioning wasn’t working, I reported this but found the staff on the front desk very rude and dismissive over this matter. Before we left I clarified that the deposit of $150 would be returned within 10 days. I still have not received this 1 month later. I have sent numerous emails regaining this matter with no response.

The Hotel is average at best and very basic. It is tired, old and in desperate need of renovation. I am not sure how it attains a 3.5 Star rating? Our room (Junior Suite) was a good size, but a number of things needed fixing. The bathroom door handle was broken which meant you got locked in the bathroom if the door was closed until you moved the handle enough to open it again. The Hotel does not offer an in room safe for your items. The balcony was a bonus but it was dirty and when trying to enjoy it you are overcome with the smell of Cannabis. Despite being advertised as a smoke free hotel, guests constantly smoke Cannabis on their balconies. I would also not consider this neighbourhood area as safe for people walking alone, especially at night. The location is surrounded by large groups of homeless people in the nearby parks, DART Station and Streets who are there 24/7. The pool was dirty and desperately needed cleaning. It was not cleaned the days I was there. The Hotel lifts are slow and only 2 of the 4 were working. Outsiders often enter the foyer attempting to use the bathrooms so Security staff are very busy. I would probably look elsewhere in Dallas....

Decent hotel, close to shops, bars and restaurants in Downtown Dallas. Windows do not open but there is air con. Parking available at a cost. Bar closes at 10pm which was disappointing. Nice pool area to relax and unwind.
