We did a ton of research for our trip to Charleston, and we chose The Vendue over many other hotels in the historic district, and we were very much looking forward to our stay... and we were just disappointed. We stayed for a week. During that week, on 3 different occasions, we requested our car from the valet service and we waited for so long (over 20 minutes each time) that we had to go across the street to find the valet and inquire as to status, only to be told that despite the app telling us a valet was "hustling for" our car, they hadn't even received the request - on one occasion, there was also another guest dealing with the same situation. Clearly this is an issue that needs to be dealt with. In addition, it appears that there is only one valet on at a time, and even on days when they did receive our request, we were still waiting 15 - 20 minutes for our car. If the hotel is full and the valet is that busy, a second might be needed. Pretty frustrating for a $49 nightly valet fee. I could have kept the car key and retrieved the car myself. As for our room, we were on the second floor in the Enclave building, across the street from The Vendue. While the building is pretty quiet, you can definitely hear other doors opening and closing and people talking in the hallway, which can be a little annoying at 1am when you're trying to sleep. While I don't expect a building to be soundproof by any means, I've stayed in hotels that are much quieter. Our room had a fireplace which was very nice, and a definite plus. Our bed was SUPER comfortable, and we absolutely loved it. However the HVAC system in our room was so loud, the only way we could sleep was with earplugs, and not having it on wasn't an option, we needed the A/C to sleep. While the Enclave building is beautiful and historic, which we love, there is a definite smell of some sort of a sewage leak on the first floor just past the lobby that should be dealt with. I'm glad we weren't staying in the rooms off that hallway, if I had a smell like that near my room I would have left and booked elsewhere. The last disappointment for us was when we received the folio via email with no real detail, the discount that we booked with was not evident anywhere, which resulted in us having to ask questions to clarify that we were billed correctly. After all this, when I received an email asking for my feedback, I was honest with my feedback, and received a reply, which I responded to, and then... crickets. So, I'm not sure how concerned the hotel sincerely is when guests have issues. They offered us a certificate to return and stay again, which we most likely won't do. In the end, for a "luxury" hotel, we simply expected more from The Vendue - we just felt it didn't live up to expectations of a luxury property - especially considering the room rates! We love Charleston and we'll definitely be returning, but we won't be staying here. There are many hotels to choose from in the area, we'll stay elsewhere in the future. Rating choices here are 1 - 5, I chose 3 because it's "average" - not "poor" (2), but I also wouldn't say "good" (4) - we expected and hoped for a lot more.

"Worth every penny!"

We had an absolutely incredible stay here and cannot recommend this hotel enough. From the moment you walk in, you are warmly greeted and immediately feel taken care of. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated with art all around, creating such a unique and welcoming atmosphere. Noah checked us in and was fantastic. He stayed in contact throughout our stay and was always available whenever we needed anything. That level of attentiveness really made the experience feel personal and seamless. My absolute favorite part of our stay was the rooftop bar. The team up there made the entire trip worth every single penny. They were welcoming, professional, and genuinely enjoyable to talk with. They made us feel completely at home even though we were visiting a new place. Huge shoutout to Mika, Jess, Morgan, and Louis. They were truly the light of this place and made the experience unforgettable. Honestly, we would come back just to see them again. 10/10 recommend.

First, let me say I like The Vendue. Great location and terrific staff. But what a disappointment this visit was. I booked through their website, not a third party, and chose the Enclave King, a beautiful room with lots of windows and light. The beautiful, spacious room was 153 which turned out to be the ground floor next to a parking deck where people walked within feet of our windows to get to Vendue Range, and where one person stood outside our window smoking a cigarette. Of course, we had to pull the shades and curtains making our room a dark beautiful room. We went to the desk where they were very concerned and tried to move us. No go. Full. No rooms available. They would be on the lookout for a cancellation. All day but nothing. We remained in our beautiful dark room for 3 days. Lessons learned: it apparently is of no advantage to book directly. I thought that booking directly would have given us a better placement of rooms. Apparently not because they obviously know there are problems with the location of this room. And I might assume that direct booking would shield you from this room. Another lesson is that I should have called to make reservations, though I would have needed a heads up on what questions to ask. I have stayed in The Vendue before and had only stayed in rooms on 2nd or 3rd floors. I somehow thought all rooms were above the ground floor. Wrong. Was there a heads up when I booked directly that I could choose “where” my room was? If so, I missed it. Again, The Vendue is a good place but only if you know enough or are guided in such a way as to avoid the ground floor adjacent to the parking lot and deck with constant traffic just outside your beautiful windows in your beautiful room.

"very unhappy stay"

Disappointing experience at a property that claims to be luxury. During our stay, a staff member walked in on us while we were intimate (major privacy breach), and we found insects in the bed both nights (I have uploaded video proof). When I contacted management, they called us liars and told us we were 'not a fit' for the hotel. This follows a 2022 stay where a sewer line broke on our floor. We stay at The Loutrel and Charleston Place frequently; go there instead where they actually respect guest privacy and hygiene.
